Anne Frank was born in Germany in 1929 and had to go into hiding with her family for over two years to escape the German army, during which time she wrote a diary detailing their experiences. Her diary was published after she died in a Polish concentration camp and brought worldwide attention to the Holocaust so that such atrocities would never be repeated. She enjoyed acting and writing plays as a child before going into hiding.
