Fostering Collaborative Creativity and Meta-cognitive awareness in e-Learning Framework:
The Case of Hybrid Synergy Tag Tool by Niki Lambropoulos & Panagiotis G. Kampylis @GAPMET Conference, Athens, 2009
It is a presentation on educational implications of synergy.what is synergy? what is the definition of synergy? what is classroom synergizing? how can use synergy effectively in classroom?
CASE District II Conference 2011: Synergy, Enthusiasm, and a Great Opening Li...Paul Redfern
A copywriter, a career counselor, and a development officer walk into a webinar. The Facilitator asks, “What’ll you have, a nice Editorial Calendar, perhaps? Our Hashtag Martinis are pretty popular.” … While coordinating your campus-wide social media plan is no laughing matter, it is best to come at it with an open mind, buckets of enthusiasm, and a sense of humor. Learn why the checklists approach – Video, check. Facebook, check. Twitter, check – is not enough: To make Social Media work, you must have a brand message to share, you must galvanize the whole campus community, and you must find synergy between each separate key initiative. Learn how to implement integrated marketing plans that advance brand. Paul will provide an insider’s perspective and show how to bring together colleagues from across campus. Josanne will provide a methodology for developing and implementing a plan that works for your institution and for initiatives of any scale – regardless of staffing resources. Session attendees should be prepared to submit questions to the session Twitter feed prior to the conference, for real-time discussion during the event.

Strategies for Enhancing the Synergy between Principals and Mathematics Teach...iosrjce
This study examined probable causes of friction between Principals and Mathematics teachers in
secondary schools and the consequences of the friction on students’ achievements in mathematics. The study
also sought to identify the strategies that could be adopted to reduce friction so as to enhance the synergy
between principals and mathematics teachers in secondary schools. A survey was conducted on one hundred
and three (103) mathematics teachers and thirty –seven (37) principals using stratified sampling method from
the five educational zones in Adamawa State. Questionnaire was the instrument used to collect data from the
respondents. Mean, standard deviation and t-test were used to analyze the data generated from the instrument.
The study revealed that causes of friction included; lackadaisical attitude of principals to mathematics teachers’
request, domineering attitude of principals , incompetence and mal administration among principals, nonrecommendation
of in service training for mathematics teachers, mathematics teachers’ involvement in
examination malpractice, organizing private lessons for fees without the knowledge of school authority and
class evading. It was also found that establishment of democratic relationships with teachers, counseling
problem mathematics teachers, impartiality in allocation of responsibility to mathematics teachers by the
schools’ principals are among the strategies that could be adopted to reduce friction between principals and
mathematics teachers. The researcher recommended that principals and mathematics teachers should be
tolerant of one another and that they should make conscious efforts to ensure that their school is peaceful and
conducive for teaching and learning.
Some folks say, “Of course, religion’s good for society – it fosters a strong sense of community, feeds the hungry, houses the homeless and promotes the moral education of our children.” Others say, “Are you kidding? Religion deceives people about the true nature of reality, inspires sectarian violence, teaches dangerous and misleading sex education, and causes endless cultural disputes over abortion, gay marriage and stem cell research - of course, it's bad for society.” Drawing on recent social science research by Gregory Paul, and the “Plan B” Initiative by Lester Brown, this talk suggests a fresh approach to answering this question.

A great number of jobs are becoming obsolete these days; our era is shifting from the Industrial to the Information, Collaboration and Creativity one. Knowledge, skills, competencies and associated tools within Communities of Practice (CoPs) are constantly altering. In the rise of such new world, new dreams and visions are needed to be manifested creating new CoPs and careers that sometimes can be entirely unpredictable. This rapid information expansion, worldwide collaboration and promptly emerging new technologies, are raising demands in the everyday working ecosystems. Consequently, they impact and alter the Vocational Education and Training (VET) pedagogical approaches and learning possibilities. Based upon the inevitable uncertainty, best practices are presented that have been intelligently employed for vocational technology enhanced learning within in situ connected working environments. Furthermore, new methods, tools and techniques are proposed to embrace and enhance collaborative creativity implemented in diverse and intersected informal and formal learning and working locations. Such frameworks and easy-to-use tools have the potential to adjust and bridge previous knowledge and experiences with the new working demands. In this way, knowledge, skills and competencies can be transformed and transmitted within unified learning and working ecosystems for everyday ubiquitous connectivity and practice.

Through HySynTag the e-learners can tag their messages in online discussion forums according to the type and level of argumentation and thinking they express in their posts. Figure 2 shows how the Hybrid Synergy levels adjusted and labelled for web use as the more ‘scientific’ definitions have been found not to function in everyday use (Lambropoulos, 2008). Based on the research by Kirschner and colleagues (2008) about the three levels from free use of tools to obligatory use, the authors decided to stay on the first level; the e-learners were not obliged, but encouraged to use the tool.
More specific, HySynTag tool allows the discussion participants to attach qualitative metadata to their posts based on a specific cognitive model and thus visualise their cognitive levels. This visualisation can occur on three levels: the discussion, the posts, and the overall threaded view. The learning and research aim was to use the tool in order to control, support, analyse and measure the creative collaboration between the participants as it is expressed in the related discussion forums.
Further implementation, evaluation and improvement are suggested for the Hybrid Synergy Model as well as the HySynTag tool. In addition, new tools and interfaces to support collaborative creativity within e-teams are needed. Our continuing research includes the use of iconic instead of textual representation. Furthermore, we are going to introduce HySyntag tool in two different educational contexts: to music education (in the framework of an e-course organized by GAMPET) as well as to environmental education teachers (in the framework of an e-course organized by the National and Capodistrian University of Athens; see Daskolia, Lambropoulos & Kampylis, 2009). In addition, there is a need for further evaluation in different cultural as well as in multicultural contexts.
Thank you for your time and attention. I am looking forward to your comments and feedback and I welcome any questions you might have. I will do my best to answer them clearly and precisely!
