My Formal Proposal
The title of my magazine that I’ll produce soon will have to be ‘Bling’ because it was a
popular one in the recording questionnaires, that I done. Another reason why I like this
for my title is because I’m expecting my model to wear gold chains around his neck.
Also, in a recent questionnaire I done, females like the sound and look of jewellery and
wealth; this also helped in order to find out a title for my magazine. I also think that,
most Hip-Hop magazine like to use red in their titles, so I thought there are also other
colours that represent this genre as well, making my magazine unique and different
than other Hip-Hop magazine. From all my other option of a masthead for my magazine,
‘Bling’ was more appropriate and stereotypical for Hip-Hop’s artists and target audience.
I’ve chosen the genre of Hip-Hop because it was an instant choice of mine as that is the
genre I mainly listen to and know more about.
My ideal target audience would still be females of any ethnicity and a good
representation of a female I would target is called Vivian aged 17 and is female. She is
Afro-Caribbean and her desired career is to be a Pharmacist and she is in education at
Solihull Sixth Form College. Her favourite musical artist is Bryson Tiller, and her
favourite album is “If You’re Reading This You’re Too Late”. Her favourite way to listen
to music is through earphones and her hobbies include dancing and partying. Another
example of my ideal target audience is Molly, she is 17 and is female. She is white
British and wants to be a lawyer in the future; she studies at Solihull Sixth Form and
enjoys listening to music through her Beats speaker. Her favourite artist is Eminem and
her favourite album is Testimony. These two females are an example of a demographic
group that I am targeting, both of a working-class or lower.
Initial ideas about:
● Front page - Have a black male on as the main image because my target
audience will obviously like Hip-Hop music and this genre of music is sang by a
majority of African-American artists, so a potential reason they enjoy that genre
of music is because of that and also in my questionnaire my target audience said
they would like to have a male on the front cover
- Have the colour scheme as gold, red and black
- Potentially have little images to go with some of the other coverlines
● Contents page - I’m thinking about having an image with a graffiti background
framed on there but have the whole contents background as graffiti
- I’ll have
- Add advertising in a corner of a tour or something that could
interest my target audience as they would most likely like freebies
● Double page spread - I’ll have the main image on one half of the double page
spread
My Formal Proposal
- I’ll have a bold font in a graffiti/retro style to stand out as
the title as it will anchor with the article option I had of ‘Good girl gone bad’.
- Having two columns on the other half of the page and have
a row of other pictures of the model on the bottom of the page and the masthead on the
bottom corner and social site links on the other corner.
● Photographs - Have my female model sat in front of the wall looking cool and
depressed like this image of Rihanna:
- I’d also have my male artist lean against
the wall with a leg on the wall and it to be a
high angle shot with direct address, which
will be used for the front cover
- The other male model would be as a close-up whilst he holds a basketball to his chest
as it will go with the other article option of mine for the contents page
- The other female model will be singing into a microphone and not giving direct address
as it will show her concentration and will be for the contents page
