A forest is an area
with a high density
of trees.
Forests cover about
30% of the land
surface.
A forest is a natural
formation.
It is the habitat of
many species of
animals and plants.
Planted forests
are those with
specific goals,
and both can be
formed by native
species such as
exotic.
This is the type
of forests used
for timber
production and
Forests are
destroyed mainly
by human activity.
Deforestation is
not a recent
phenomena, we
think that in
prehistoric times it
was already
underway in
various locations
around the world.
What is known is that
at the beginning of the
Industrial Revolution
in the mid-eighteenth
century, much of the
Northern Hemisphere
forests had
disappeared, and in
the twentieth century,
the process intensified
rapidly in tropical
forests.
