This document summarizes a study on projecting future forest fire danger in the Mediterranean region using regional climate models from the ENSEMBLES project. It finds that using maximum temperature and minimum relative humidity as proxies, it can estimate the Canadian Fire Weather Index to assess fire danger from the climate model output. Analyzing multiple regional climate models driven by two global models reveals a robust positive signal of increased fire danger potential over large areas of the Mediterranean in the future, with the signal strengthening later in the century.
