How to Dress your Body Shape
TRIANGLE SHAPE
If you have a triangle body shape that means your upper
body and shoulders are narrower than your hips. This
body shape is also commonly known as a pear shape.
You should emphasise your waist, a good way to do this
is with a belt. You should try to always wear dark
clothing from the hips down. Invest in a good padded bra
to enhance your bust area. Spaghetti strap tops, coats
above the hip line, pencil skirts and boot cut trousers are
your best friends.
AVOID: Shapeless clothes, cropped tops & jackets, harem
pants and oversized clothing.

INVERTED TRIANGLE SHAPE
If you have a inverted triangle body shape that means
your shoulders are broader than your hips. With this
body shape you want to create the illusion of an
hourglass shape.
You should emphasise the hip line, a good way to do
this is with asymmetric garments or a waist coats . You
should try to wear print to help bulk out your bottom
half. Enhance your shape by wearing a halter neck
tops, wrap tops, tulip skirts and harem pants to help
your shape look fabulous.
AVOID: Wide or cropped jackets, all baggy clothing
like a blouse or smock dress and any blocked colour or
detailing on the shoulders.

RECTANGLE SHAPE
If you have a rectangle body shape that means your
upper and lower torso is straight up and down. Ladies
with this type of body shape generally have no chest and
can be regarded as having a boyish figure.
You should emphasise your bust and waist area. Clothing
items you should wear are structured and long coats. A
good bra will help you to enhance your curves. Create a
shapely neck line by wearing a halter neck, clean line
tops, kaftans, and shift dresses. The best skirt shapes to
suit your body are cross-over panel and A line skirts.
AVOID: Noticeable waist bands, high-waisted trousers,
pinstripes, pencil skirts, droopy clothing and square toe
shoes.

HOURGLASS SHAPE
If you have a hourglass body shape that means you have
a curvy bust and hips with a slim waist. It can be a
struggle to find ready to wear clothes to suit your body
shape as many of the designer clothes are tailored to a
more rectangular body shape.
You should emphasise your shoulders with puff sleeve
tops, pencil skirts and a tight tops suit the hourglass
body shape well. By wearing boot cut trousers will
balance the top half of your body where as high-waisted
and wide legged trousers emphasise the hip area.
Draping garments very good for disguising the tummy
area.
AVOID: Volume enhancing detailing, horizontal stripes,
tops shorter than the hipbone and shift dresses or skirts.

DIAMOND SHAPE
If you have a diamond body shape that means the middle
section of your torso is wider than the rest of your body.
You should balance your body out by creating a waist
line and showing off your arms and legs.
You should emphasise your shape by wearing
monochrome or colour in the top half of your body. If
your going to wear a dress then it should be tight at the
bust are and loose at the bottom. Tops with bat wings or
detailing on the shoulder will also work well with your
shape. Wear high heels to elongate your legs.
AVOID: Wearing patterns on your belly, tight tops or tops
with collar and big belts.

ROUNDED SHAPE
If you have a rounded body shape that means you have a
round tummy and a bigger bust. This is one of the most
difficult body shapes to dress and showing off your arms
and legs will work the best.
You should emphasise your cleavage area by wearing
low cut tops and open necklines. Tailored jackets and
strong block colours is the way to go with this type of
shape. Go for tunic tops high-waisted skirts. Layering
will also work well with your shape and try using a body
shaper to smooth out your curves.
AVOID: Clingy clothing, baggy trousers and pattern
clothing as this will only draw attention to that area.

  • 2. TRIANGLE SHAPE If you have a triangle body shape that means your upper body and shoulders are narrower than your hips. This body shape is also commonly known as a pear shape. You should emphasise your waist, a good way to do this is with a belt. You should try to always wear dark clothing from the hips down. Invest in a good padded bra to enhance your bust area. Spaghetti strap tops, coats above the hip line, pencil skirts and boot cut trousers are your best friends. AVOID: Shapeless clothes, cropped tops & jackets, harem pants and oversized clothing.
  • 4. INVERTED TRIANGLE SHAPE If you have a inverted triangle body shape that means your shoulders are broader than your hips. With this body shape you want to create the illusion of an hourglass shape. You should emphasise the hip line, a good way to do this is with asymmetric garments or a waist coats . You should try to wear print to help bulk out your bottom half. Enhance your shape by wearing a halter neck tops, wrap tops, tulip skirts and harem pants to help your shape look fabulous. AVOID: Wide or cropped jackets, all baggy clothing like a blouse or smock dress and any blocked colour or detailing on the shoulders.
  • 6. RECTANGLE SHAPE If you have a rectangle body shape that means your upper and lower torso is straight up and down. Ladies with this type of body shape generally have no chest and can be regarded as having a boyish figure. You should emphasise your bust and waist area. Clothing items you should wear are structured and long coats. A good bra will help you to enhance your curves. Create a shapely neck line by wearing a halter neck, clean line tops, kaftans, and shift dresses. The best skirt shapes to suit your body are cross-over panel and A line skirts. AVOID: Noticeable waist bands, high-waisted trousers, pinstripes, pencil skirts, droopy clothing and square toe shoes.
  • 8. HOURGLASS SHAPE If you have a hourglass body shape that means you have a curvy bust and hips with a slim waist. It can be a struggle to find ready to wear clothes to suit your body shape as many of the designer clothes are tailored to a more rectangular body shape. You should emphasise your shoulders with puff sleeve tops, pencil skirts and a tight tops suit the hourglass body shape well. By wearing boot cut trousers will balance the top half of your body where as high-waisted and wide legged trousers emphasise the hip area. Draping garments very good for disguising the tummy area. AVOID: Volume enhancing detailing, horizontal stripes, tops shorter than the hipbone and shift dresses or skirts.
  • 10. DIAMOND SHAPE If you have a diamond body shape that means the middle section of your torso is wider than the rest of your body. You should balance your body out by creating a waist line and showing off your arms and legs. You should emphasise your shape by wearing monochrome or colour in the top half of your body. If your going to wear a dress then it should be tight at the bust are and loose at the bottom. Tops with bat wings or detailing on the shoulder will also work well with your shape. Wear high heels to elongate your legs. AVOID: Wearing patterns on your belly, tight tops or tops with collar and big belts.
  • 12. ROUNDED SHAPE If you have a rounded body shape that means you have a round tummy and a bigger bust. This is one of the most difficult body shapes to dress and showing off your arms and legs will work the best. You should emphasise your cleavage area by wearing low cut tops and open necklines. Tailored jackets and strong block colours is the way to go with this type of shape. Go for tunic tops high-waisted skirts. Layering will also work well with your shape and try using a body shaper to smooth out your curves. AVOID: Clingy clothing, baggy trousers and pattern clothing as this will only draw attention to that area.
