Project proposal title and date:
Judas kiss
8/2/23
Main area of activity:
Mostly the filming and acting in my movie along with editing of the movie post-production
Rationale:
In the past two years I’ve done a lot of camera work and furthered my skills with them by
making music videos, edits, podcasts, interviews etc. this has also furthered my knowledge
within the editing aspects of that and made me understand how to edit film and what looks
good and how to adapt with what I have. I have more of a pull towards older film as I feel it
has way more character and personality, I have worked with multiple different cameras too
ranging from cannon 800ds, Sony handycams to Sony hi8 which takes film tapes, I wanted
to explore a full range of cameras as I feel that it’s necessary to see what styles you like
more than other and I have always preferred the older look of film tapes and vhs cameras
which I intend on using in my fmp even if its only for small increments.
Project Concept:
The concept for my project is based around the movie fight club and draws inspiration from it as I
want to use another person or alternate version of myself as the embodiment of the different
person one is within their head representing that character nobody sees figuratively and physically
as the only person who can see this other character is the main actor. I am going to change the
“fight club” aspect though and have it specifically revolved around this extra character the main
actor has made up within themselves and gives it all the aspects the main character desires. My
research is going to revolve around fight club and analysis video, breakdowns and retrospectives
of it along with research into the director David Fincher to draw inspiration around his
cinematography but also keep it close to me and have aspects which represent me as a person
within the film and cinematography. I'm also going to study other movies made by David Fincher
such as seven and the social network and view how they differentiate from one another visually
and within the meanings behind the movie along with its message it may subliminally try to get
across. If I can I am also going to try and read the books from fight club as there is currently 3 in
the series to take an even deeper dive into the psychology of the narrator and Tyler Durden and
how they function as one in the same.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I feel like evaluation of each section that I create would be beneficial as it lets me take a close and
in detail reflection on what I have created, the good parts and the parts that could have been better
this in turn will help me plan my next shot better as it gives me ideas for better lighting,
composition, acting, and overall, a deeper look into what I can improve upon last time. This will
help me overtime in my media career as it lets me be critical of myself and see the faults before
they even happen and make me improve upon them even greater.
