Species like green sea turtles and Laysan albatrosses are being negatively affected - turtles have high mortality rates due to plastic ingestion and entanglement, while albatross chicks are dying from plastic in their nests. Scientists are measuring these impacts to determine solutions and encourage environmental protections.

He was awarded a National Science Foundation International Postdoctoral Research Fellow, and was based at the University of Indonesia. Subsequently he was a teaching fellow at the National University of Singapore within their flagship undergraduate educational institution, the University Scholars Program, with a joint appointment in the Department of Biological Sciences. With more than 10 years of experience living and working in Southeast Asia as a professional conservation biologist, he returned to the USA in 2008 to found his own science-based conservation organization, tarsier.org.

FMP Pitch | Losing Wildlife to Humans

- 2. MY CONCEPT OVERVIEW • My FMP will be a short documentary about the destruction of wildlife. • Greenhouse gases and human pollution are the main topics. • As it will be a short documentary, it will be around 20 to 30 minutes long. Photograph taken by David Tipling
- 3. WHY DID I CHOOSE THIS CONCEPT? • I studied Geography as a GCSE course. • WWF advertisements would appear frequently on television, as well as online. • David Attenborough's recent campaigns on social media has inspired me to act on saving the wildlife. Photograph taken by David Chapman
- 4. WHY DID I CHOOSE THIS CONCEPT? • Due to civilization, the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere had jumped up to around 400 parts per million (Denchak, 2019). Photograph taken by David Chapman
- 6. MY RESEARC H PLAN • For secondary research, I have chosen to use these; • Books • Articles • Videos • Documentaries • For primary research, I have chosen to use these methods; • A focus group • Interviews • Questionnaires
- 7. MY AUDIENCE • After publishing a questionnaire, I found that; • 2 out 3 people didn't know what the charity WWF is. • Overpopulation was voted to be the most impacting. • 3.67 out of 5 was the rating of interest for this documentary. • 2 out of 3 people watching documentaries relating to wildlife and the environment. My target audience would be 17 to 30 years old, as I believe that this age range would want to act more than those younger and older.
- 8. VISUALS AND AESTHETIC S • Most of the documentary will have visuals of British animals, causes of pollution and human activities. • There will be a lot of green and blue scenery to relate back to the wildlife. • The aesthetics will be sort of dark to create a sympathetic feeling from the audience.

MY INSPIRATION S • WWF is a charity for wildlife worldwide • Their mission statement is to "create a word where people and wildlife can thrive together". • They reported that the wildlife population worldwide decreased by 84%. • David Attenborough is known for his documentaries on wildlife. • On social media, he has campaigned for the world to act on climate change. • In Attenborough's recent documentary, he shares; • His witness statement for the natural world. • His vision for the future.
- 11. RESOURCE S REQUIRED • For my secondary research, I will be requiring; • Books • Articles • Videos • Documentaries • For my primary research; I will be requiring; • A spare room for both the focus group and the interviews. • Microsoft forms to create the questionnaires.
- 12. MY EQUIPMENT LIST • To create my documentary, I plan to use; • A 550D camera • A video tripod • A zoom H1 microphone
