Millions suffer from famine in overpopulated regions of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East where the soil is poor. The authors propose building floating farms in the Red Sea inspired by vertical farming ideas to address these issues. The farms would use a greenhouse effect to grow crops, which would then be transported by boat and truck to places in need, allowing third world countries to become self-sufficient food producers and export any surplus.
