online addicts, spending more
time on the internet than

Today 99% of all students have
access to the internet outside of
school.
Only 6% rely on computers at
community centers or public
libraries.
& 39% of youth
sleep with their
cellphones.
Some study findings:
Media researchers more concerned about
children using smartphones, iPads etc. than
parents (Funk, Brouer, Curtiss, and McBroom
2009).
Parents expect their children
to use technology at school
and believe that they would
be at disadvantage if they do
not attain these skills.
Both teachers and students say
technology makes learning more
interesting and fun.
Cellphone and Smartphones are the
primary devices used to access the
internet by youth today.
Elementary aged children use an average of 7.5 hours per day of
entertainment technology.

Technology is changing how kids think and do
things; the ever present use of Internet search
engines is making children become less adept
at remembering things and more skilled at
remembering where to find things.
Digital media stimulates children to question about the
world and helps them develop their own narratives and
maginative responses.
Parents stricter with girls
being online than boys.
Girls more likely to search
online for health and
relationships.
.
60% of boys connect to the
Internet through a gaming
console.
Studies over the past decade have come
to conclusion that many adolescents
today are having difficulty identifying
emotions in people, causing difficulty to
feel empathy toward others who may be
feeling pain, sorrow, anger and other
emotions.

servant but a dangerous
master.” – Christian Louis Lange
