The growth of the city of Jakarta is marked among others by the development of new towns in the surrounding areas including Tangerang. The growth of this city establishes the character of a distinctive sub-urban area emphasizing on indigenous settlement that retains its rural character. The form of pressure in terms of land acquisition and land development by new town developers concerning vacant land and indigenous settlement areas resulted on the emergence of enclave settlement. To ensure that the enclave settlement is in line with the principles of sustainable development, the phenomenon needs to be explored by focusing on the inhabitants of enclave settlement. This study is based on the question of whether the indigenous settlements of the new town area can survive and be prevailed by using certain strategies. To be able to answer the question, descriptive analysis is exploited based on the grounded method through field observation on the social life of the inhabitants implementing through the spatial arrangement of residential house at the new town of Gading Serpong area. The results revealed that spatial typo-morphology of residential house in the indigenous settlement is basically a reflection of the strong values and social ties of the inhabitants as the uppermost hierarchy of the spatial socio-culture. Therefore, it is important to emphasize that spatial typo-morphology can become significant factor in supporting the resilience of enclave settlements in responding to the development of new towns.

This study investigates the measurable factors which influence the residential level of satisfaction in low-cost house units in Mukalla, Yemen. The importance of this study is due to the development of this city that has been influenced by modern architecture since colonial period. It is the tradition in Mukalla that most population live in traditional (known as tower houses) and modern mid-rise houses. The work aims to examine the level of habitability of modern house design in comparison to the level of habitability of house design of the traditional houses. The result shows that levels of satisfaction of the respondents who live at traditional house units are generally higher than those in modern house units. The finding of the study indicates house design as an important factor that determines the level of residential satisfaction. This research contributes several proposals from the research findings considered for house design guideline for the local authority to improve quality of modern house layout units with reference to the traditional house design layout in the present and future development.

This qualitative study argues that ongoing occupant involvement in housing design, construction, and
maintenance processes leads to more appropriate buildings that can sustain their usefulness while undergoing
change over time to adapt to dynamic user needs. This is demonstrated by the documentation of the design of a
house in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, South Africa that uses Open Building (OB) principles so that the house
adapts to the changing needs of the family and maintains its intergenerational value.
This project centres on the occupant, not only at the outset with initial consultation but also throughout the
lifetime of the project, as the house design is deliberately flexible and aims to allow many authors to participate
in its future adaptations. Based on this worldview, we use the following tools: a literature review on OB, an OB
analysis of low-cost housing in general, and an analysis of the proposed design project.
We compare low-cost housing projects using four OB principles: 1. how the project involves the occupant’s
agency to build; 2. how the project separates its elements to facilitate this agency; 3. whether the project focuses
on providing a housing product, or a housing process; and 4. how sustainably the delivered structure can
accommodate the occupant’s current and future needs.
The paper illustrates these OB principles in the design of a low-cost, rural house project in Bushbuckridge to
show that they also have value for the architecture at a small scale, and how a house can be designed to ensure
that it adapts to the changing needs and creativity of the occupant.
The paper concludes with the implications that OB principles have for the design process. The process no longer
consists of a simple sequence that separated design and construction and ends with a housing product. Rather,
the design and construction focus on delivering a building process that the occupant can take ownership of, and
sustain over the lifetime of the building.

This study discusses the correlation between the articulations of the high-rise building envelope with the approach of the life cycle of buildings as part of sustainable design thinking. The assessment has been made through the approach of library research as a stepping stone to attain understanding. The benefit obtained from this study will support the creation of high-rise residential buildings which in terms of life cycle is supporting the environmental quality provided it is assessed from the building envelope aspect.

The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
