1) Howie lives in a fish bowl with four other fish: George, Gil, Greg, and Ginny. Howie feels different from the others. 2) Howie notices a new, nicer looking bowl next to theirs and dreams of being alone in it. One day, Howie jumps and lands in the other bowl by himself. 3) At first Howie enjoys being alone, but after a few days wants to return to his old bowl and friends. Howie struggles to jump back but with help from his friends, returns to his original bowl and finds acceptance in the group.

otherfishinthe bowl.Theyalwayslaughandswimaround while playingtag. The fastestis George,he is
the smallestof the bunchand hasa white patchof scaleson hisbelly. Gil,hasthe special tail thathas
orange spotsall overit. Greg,is the fishthattalks the most, he is alwaystellingstorieshe hasmade up.
Ginnyisthe onlygirl of the group,she isalwaysfixingherfinandherscalesgofrom darkto lightorange.
I am the largestof the fishand I alwaysfeel differentthan the others.Idon’tlike toswimveryfast,I
don’thave a special tail or scales,andI don’tknow anystories.Theyalways askme to playwiththem
but I wouldratherbe alone.
One day whenwe woke up,we all noticedanew bowl nexttous. The waterlookedpretty,betterthan
than the waterI was sharingnow. If onlyI couldbe inthe otherbowl by myself Ithought.Overthe next
couple of daysI wouldgetup before myfriendsandswim tothe top of the waterand lookat the other
bowl.One day I got I decidedIwasgoingto jumpto see the bowl fromthe air. AsI was inthe air, I
jumpedsohard I landedin the otherbowl.Ididit!I am finallybymyself andcanplayand not have to
worryabout anyone else.The firstdaywasgreat,I couldswimas slow asI want and I didn’thave totalk
to anyone.Daytwo wasgood,I got tiredof swimmingincircles.Bydaythree I neededtotalkto
someone.Iwantedtobe back inmy oldbowl withmyfriends.
I didn’tknowhowto getback. I don’tknow how to jumpback overbecause Ididn’tdoit on purpose in
the firstplace. My firsttry I swimfastto the topand jump,I come out of the water thanfall back in.On
my secondtryI swimevenfastertothe top and jump,Icome outof the water so far I endedupinthe
otherbowl.My friendsall swimuptome and wantedto know how I didit!Theysaid thattheyall tried
to jumpbut wasn’tstrongenoughtojumpthat high.Fromthemon out I had a place inthe group.I
