First respond : If monotheistic religions did not spread and overpower countries, and polytheistic religions remained strong, the entire world would be drastically different. Spain, for example, was one of many countries that adopted Catholicism to their lifestyles. It is obvious that this monotheistic religion that they became so devoted to led them to want to spread their influence. If this faith of the Spanish was not as strong, the influence they had in accordance to religion would not be as spread. Spain, and other Christian countries spread their faith throughout other countries. I believe that if they had not been this religion, or if they had been a polytheistic religion, Christianity would not be as prevalent today in the United States of America as well as other western countries. While Spain sought out to claim land they were also spreading their ideals and beliefs. So while they did claim "new" lands, they also brought their religion with them and tried to convert people to their own personal faith. Without this religion by their side, the spread of Christianity/ Catholicism would not be as large and have such of an impact. I believe that the rise of Catholicism in Spain became one of their most valuable personal assets. They became proud of their religion and most certain that they were correct in their beliefs and this set the structure of their country most definitely. Without the religion, they might not have been so set on influencing others on their beliefs. Also, their country would look completely different. I visited Spain two summers ago, and the proof of their faith was obvious while I was there, simply by what the tour guide told me of the importance of religion to the Spanish people but also by the construction of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona. Religion is vital and the most important thing to many people and their lives. It is obvious by the way they speak and the way they act. It is also obvious by the surroundings and presence of religious buildings. Without this rise in religion the people would in some ways be different I believe, not in a bad way, but different. And the country itself would look different. In social aspects, religion also influences the way people dress and treat others. Without the Catholic influence on Spain, their style of dress might have been different in previous centuries, and even now. Also, if people living there were not Catholic, they might face some ridicule from others that are offended when other people do not share the same religion as them. Without religion, Spain's entire history and present look would not be the same. But this is the same for the rest of the world. Second respond : If polytheism and pantheism had remained strong, the world would be significantly different. It would be different because this would cause Christianity, Judaism, Islam and other monotheistic religions to not grow strong and spread throughout many countries. For example the promin ...
