First Day-Day Descriptive Writing
The First December Day I woke slowly, eyelashes fluttering gently as I blinked my way into
reality–– gently rising from the slumber I had plunged into the night before. Sunlight was just barely
sneaking through the bamboo blinds of my light pink room, leaving my bed in a shadow of deep
purple as if it was afraid to pull me from my dreaming too soon. The room was still chilly and the
floorboards a frigid slate of ice as I pulled on the slipper–socks that my mother had set beside my
bed, and sleepily padded over to the window. With a soft yawn and a stretch, I slowly tugged on the
fraying, yellowed string controlling the shades, fiddling with it slightly as I pulled with all of the
might that my tiny form could allow. Bit by bit, I slowly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It was towering in a glorious and perfect upside–down–ice–cream–cone shape, a soft teal, with
spines that were more plastic than they were needles. My father tamed it gently with his hand, and
proceeded to trim the bottom branches. With the earsplitting shriek of the chainsaw, and a few tense
moments later, the tree plummeted gracefully to the ground, and my father hoisted it up onto his
shoulders, propping it on the van before giving it a final shove onto the roof. I retrieved the string to
tie it up from the back seat. The bulky twine was surprisingly smooth to the touch, gliding
comfortably between my fingers as the ball unwound. Amazed by this, I promptly called out
"Daddy! Can I have a piece?"
The reply was of course a short laugh and an, "Of course, pumpkin," from my father, as we finished
securing the tree and prepared to go home. The little coconut–cream colored rope, now filled with
the dizzying aroma of pine, twirled smoothly between my fingers as I toyed with it dreamily, leaning
myself against the window and gazing at the immaculate, snow–draped scenery sweeping by. A
small yawn escaped as the day came to its close, my eyes fluttering shut, and hands stopping their
movements. Sleep took me just as softly as it had let me go, an old friend leading me back to my
dreams–– aided by the subtle, thumping lullaby of returning

The front windows were rolled down as wind washed through the steadily moving car. A strong
stench of month–old fruit, cigarette smoke and general grime was hidden only by wafting
aftershave, purchased at last weeks five dollar sale. Glued across the grey vinyl upholstery were
crumbs of every imaginable food source, accompanied by a myriad of colourful drink stains. A
selection of ear–aching top one hundred 80s hits hummed over the radio as the engine chugged and
gurgled. The car was red, or at least it would have been before streaks of copper coloured rust
engulfed the ageing steel. I looked outside at endless rows of traffic and smelt the the pungent car
fumes filling my nostrils. Here in this rolling pile of grey, I felt consumed by circles pollution. Heat
was creating shimmery mirages across the black bitumen surface. A long jail–like fence enclosed the
miles of road, blocking any sight of green that lay beyond. It created an imposing shadow across the
lanes of pavement lying in front. Like an old security guard, the fence was strong but silent, a
present reminder of safety but also of restriction. The sky was coloured like a graphite sketch, a
blended mix of greys. Flocks of squawking birds were flying overhead but their calls were barely
audible beneath chords of blearing car horns. The air was heavy to breathe, a strange putrid cocktail
of smoke, petrol and humidity. I turned my mind back to the station wagon as the wheels began to
roll and the traffic finally

A Short Story : A Story?
"We will be back at twelve. Don't let any strangers in and let the dog out when you can," said my
mother. "Okay. I will, bye. love you." I said quickly pushing them out the door. "Julia will be home
around eleven to get her bag for Raelynn's house,"my mother said as she grabbed her purse. "yes I
know. Bye!" I said once more.
I heard the two bright headlights turn on and the old rickety car engine start. As i bounced on the
couch and watched them leave from the front window I had the house to myself. Of course as a
teenager I was gonna invite a friend over so I invited my best friend. She came over around nine
thirty. We sat around the fireplace and watched some cartoons as we munched on salty popcorn. The
both of us sat on our phones and snapchatted other people. *clink* "Did you hear that?" said Bella.
"Hear what?" I said nervously. She looked around and closed the curtains until you couldn't see in.
She said in a low voice, "that clink?" I was confused. What was she talking about? "I didn't hear
anything. Did you hear something?" I said curious. "Um yes. How did you not hear that." Bella said
frightenedly. "It's fine. It's probably the dog or the wind or something." i said as I scrolled through
instagram posts. "Don't just lay that off like it was nothing Mia, I know you heard it too." she said

Summary Of Isaac Singer's Short Story: The Haunted House
Lifting the heavy laundry bag over his shoulder, he walked down the cobble road to the house.
Remembering the little, old washwoman who used to do their linens almost every week, Isaac
Singer whistled while walking through the beautiful wooden door.
"Hey, Mama," he quietly said, kissing her on the forehead as he passed her in her rocking chair.
"Hi, sweetie," Mama said softly, not looking up from her embroidery work.
Isaac put the laundry on the bed in the room that he had claimed as a small boy. Small pebbles hit
the glass window toward the far left corner of the room. Tiptoeing to look out, he saw the red, curly
locks of his fiance as her face peaked through the window pane.
Silently, she mouthed, "Can you meet me by the bakery?" ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A year ago, he had asked Kate to marry him, but he still did not have the funds to buy a house of
their own. Honestly, he could not admit to himself that he struggled to leave Mama. His worst
nightmare involved him abandoning Mama and that leading her to her grave. The fear of his
nightmare had kept him paralyzed at home for years. Isaac was now in his thirties and he could have
left years ago. Shaking off the memories, he looked at himself in the mirror, straightened his collar,
sniffed, and walked confidently past Mama and out the door down the pathway toward the baker's
haven.
After buying a couple of pastries, Isaac and Kate went to sit by the river and talk a while.
Keeping one hand firmly grasped around his pastry, in his other hand, Isaac fingered the moss by the
edge of the river. Kate was humming a tune, trying to get the mockingbird's to copy her song.
Coughing awkwardly, she stared at Isaac, her eyes grasping for words in the air.
"Kate, what's going on in that pretty mind of yours?" Isaac smiled

Sliding New Windows Research Paper
Need New Windows? 3 Reasons To Consider Sliding Windows
When the time comes to purchase new windows, the amount of options to pick from may feel
overwhelming. Not only do you need to select the windows material, but there are different styles of
windows as well. One style that you may not have thought of before are horizontal sliding windows.
Consider these 3 reasons for buying them.
Sliding Windows Are Durable
Traditional double hung windows have various moving parts, many of them being necessary to keep
the window filly functioning. There are pulleys and springs that help them resist gravity and stay
open when in use, which can cause the window to wear down over time and potential stop
performing as they were intended.

its issues. Microsoft addressed concerns over glitches and security by releasing several Service
Packs. A Service Pack (SP) is a set of updates provided to target different glitches and most
important security problems. Service packs where made available for the general public at no cost ...

It had been five year after Windows XP hit the store's shelves. Windows Vista came loaded with
upgrades like parental controls, built–in internal protection from viruses, spyware and malware as
well as software like Windows Live Movie Maker. One of the catchiest feature in Windows Vista
was in the visual department. The introduction of AERO, a glossy 3D visual design along with new
animation and coloring gave the user a more attractive feel and better way to interact with programs.
Unfortunately it wasn't long before the public's love affair with Windows Vista came to an end. A
few of thing that turn people off were its high system requirements, its more restrictive licensing
terms, the inclusion of a number of new digital rights management technologies aimed at restricting
the copying of protected digital media, lack of compatibility with some pre–Vista hardware and
software, and the number of authorization prompts for User Account Control. Microsoft soon realize
it had a problem on their hands and very rapidly started working on a new Operating System. On

"The Mysterious Woman" By Jackson Levanen
It looked to be another boring, rainy Thanksgiving with our entire family over. Believe me, I never
will know how so many people can fit in our small house, especially when 90% are under ten.
"The house will probably be knocked over by tomorrow," I thought glumly as I stared out the
window at the rain, trying to drown out the noise in the background. I mean seriously, a stampede of
elephants, all roaring while stomping on trash can lids would make less noise. Suddenly I saw a
middle–aged woman dressed in black out in the woods. She seemed to be beckoning to me so I did

The Cinderella Story : The Story Of Cinderella's Story
Work, Work and Work. This was Cinderella's life, and it was all because of my mother. You may
think you know how Cinderella's story went but it's not true I am not just one of the evil stepsister.
This is what really happened. Mother treated cinderella terribly and I hate it. I want to be kind to her
because she is kind to us even with the way we treat her. We got a letter in the mail that had a red
castle stamp on the back which meant it was from the royal family. It read,
" All members of this household are invited to join us at the royal ball where the prince will pick one
mayden to dance with."
I was thrilled because Cinderella would actually be able to go out for a night... But of course my
mother had to come in the way.
" You cannot go unless you sweep the floors, wash the dishes, clean the barn, dust the shoes, tidy
our rooms and groom the horses"
She gave her so much work that it would be nearly impossible for cinderella to attend the ball.
Cinderella knew if she even wanted a chance at going to the ball that she would have to get to work.
While Cinderella did her chores my mother, sister, and I started to get ready for the ball we did
everything from hair to makeup and mother walked into my room with a beautiful Emerald velvet
gown with shimmery crystals lining the bottom. When I tried it on it looked almost as Whimsical as
the clouds. as time went by we were astonished to hear Cinderella working in the sewing room. we
walked over to the room only to see the sight of Cinderella and a beautiful gown it was once her
mother's. my mother said " you cannot go to the ball the chores can not possibly be done"
" they are, all of them" my mother stepped closer and started to tear the dress and rip off pieces my
sister did as well... And so did I. rip... Rip one piece after another until the dress was nothing but
shreds of fabric. once we left Cinderella was in tears I felt terrible, but I knew if I didn't follow along
mother would scold me after. I was sitting on my bed Staring at the wooden clock hanging above
my dresser just waiting for time to pass so that I could get out of the house to try to get my mind off
of what had happened. I just wish there was something I could do but nothing came to mind. I

Moths Interpretation Essay
Nature is the most beautiful as well as the most dangerous thing. It offers a lot of threats as well as
wonders. The human is the humble creature who might only see the nature by its dark side. We are
living the inside world, and nature is outside. We think we are independent as we isolate ourselves.
Adam Zagajewski's "Moths" is a wonderful yet imagistic poem which captures a great sense of how
human observed and felt about nature: startle and tear away. It offers the readers a snapshot view of
a moment, an experience when our little worlds of safety met the unknown world outside. If one
does not prepare to deal with these things, he/ she will withdraw even more. The poem begins with a
dark scenery. The author and his group sit inside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe the Zagajewski intended to put the same sentences at the beginning and the end of the
poem. This created a continuing effect. Throughout the poem, the moths were still watching them.
While the human is growing more and more inside, the moths are still watching them. The author
stated "in August" because during this time period is the moths' season. We can see them
everywhere. Whenever there is a light, they will fly toward it, try to get in and burn themselves. In
the poem, the moths were flying toward the bright light from the window of the author. They are
pursuing something else, not just the empty light rays. It was an amazing poem because by a simple
moment, the author could develop something deep and majestic, which brings the readers to a

Johari Window Is Real Me
When I started planning to write my paper I thought it was going to be a fairly simple task: I would
use the Johari window template to organize the different components of my identity. However,
before actually starting to write, I decided it was best to peruse the articles and videos provided in
the lesson. Afterwards I realized that perhaps the assignment was not as simple as I thought it would
be.
In his Ted Talk "Is there a real you?", Julian Baggini compares identity to a waterfall, which made
me realize that since we are in constant sate of change there is not such a thing as a permanent
version of me. Clearly there is an essence that prevails. Even though my core values and ideals have
changed slightly through out the years, I have mostly been following the same moral guidelines my
whole life. It is inevitable now to see that many of the characteristics I thought defined me are not
even a part of me anymore, and to my surprise are completely invisible to those around me. ... Show

Why Who Won 't The Big Man Go Away? Why?
"No! No!" I screamed frightly. What does he want? How did this happen? Why is this happening to
us? Why won't this big man go away? Why can't he leave us alone? Why? Why? Why?
I looked out the apartment window at the the smoke filled sky, the barren streets, and flickering
street lamps three stories up then the poor bakery below. I ran my finger along the rigged cement
windowsill and sang a song "I was a poor man living in San Francisco..." The door opened and in
wobbled my mom with her bony legs carrying a red bottle of water, a loaf of fresh brown bread, and
two dark orange carrots. I ran to give her a big warm hug and almost knocked the groceries out of
her scrawny hands.
Then, I scrambled and opened up the brown cupboards for the only two things we had peanut butter
and jelly. "Get the plates out Jimmy," mom ordered. I grabbed the plates off the counter top and
brought everything to the table.
We each took a piece of bread out of the bag and spread the peanut butter till it was smooth on the
bread. Then took the grape jelly and slobbered that on and took a shark bite out of it. "Slow down or
you 're going to get a stomach ache" she stated. Ding! Ding! the doorbell sounded. My mother got
up, pushed in her chair and walked to the door as her steal toes went Ting! Ting! against the wood
floors. And then stopped at the door, she opened it with a gasp like she didn't expect this person to
be there.
"Momma, who is it," I yelped as I shoved my face full of the orange carrot

The presence made by the Windows has not gone unnoticed and thanks to Abbot Suger for his love

The Cathedral of Chartres is located Southwest of Paris in Chartres, France. The Cathedral of
Chartres is considered one of the most exquisite representations of the French Gothic architectural
style. This Cathedral was constructed during 1194 through 1250, yet still contains many of its
original artifacts such as the stained glass art. The North facing Rose Window displays the Old
Testament and is dedicated to the Virgin. These images within the Rose represent Judah and the
twelve Kings and the 12 Prophets. The Cathedrale Norte–Dame de Chartres claims, "Thus the Old
Testament is portrayed as the support of the New; the four Evangelists ride on the shoulders of the
four Major Prophets: Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel." The North Rose Windows patrons were
members of the royal house of Louis IX. The South Rose Window consists of the New Testament
and is dedicated to Christ. The Windows depict the Apocalypse, Evangelists and Prophets, while the
Mary holds the Christ Child in lancets below. By this point in Medieval Architecture stained glass
has soured to new heights and has taken over the nearly the entire inside of places of worship. The

New Technology : High Efficiency Windows
Over the years, windows have evolved with a new technological advancement, known as high
efficiency windows. The introduction of these windows has allowed people to dramatic cut their
energy consumption and includes many other advantages. If you are tired of having a poorly
insulated house, installing high efficiency windows in your house could help improve this problem.
Many homes today do not include these types of windows, so people end up paying more for their
heating and cooling systems/bills. Installing these windows into your home can make a big
difference in your house and in this essay I will explain why. Before diving deep into the details of
these windows, what exactly are they? High efficiency windows "provide our homes with light,
warmth, and ventilation"(energy.gov). Or in other words, these windows keep the warm air in your
home during the winter, and vice versa with cool air in the summer. These windows also allows
homeowners to buy smaller heating and cooling systems for their home, which also will also save
money. Besides reducing the energy consumption, these windows provide more comfort in homes.
"Professionally installed, thermally advanced windows stop air leakage, cut drafts, reduce heat loss
and minimize condensation"(www.silltosash.com). Lastly, energy efficiency windows create a
healthier environment for you and your family. High efficiency windows have warmer interior glass
surfaces, which reduces the amount of condensation build on the windows.

A Study On High School
High school senior Timothy Williams woke to the sound of wind scraping the desert sand across a
glass pane of his third floor Samarra Hotel room. In the pitch–black room, he rolled over to see the
nightstand. A digital clock showed the current time at 9:37AM.
Tim thought to himself, Shit!
Their buffet breakfast began at nine.
They were running late.
Tim hated the thought for being late, for anything.
Tim pushed his back upwardly, propping up his elbows to survey his modest surroundings. The
Hotel Samarra room had two twin beds, divided by a nightstand and a wobbly brass lamp. A dresser
sat nearby the foot of Tim 's bed with a 1980 's Sylvania TV/VCR combo set. Across from the
dresser was a raggedy desk and chair, nearest the entrance.
It reminded Williams of a motel accommodation. Which was fine, he just hoped that the Minister
Mike 's New Oasis Church wasn 't paying big bucks for such arrangements, although the Hotel
boasted its safety.
Tim pondered, Could anyone actually be safe in this place?
However, the darkness outside made Tim 's mind questioned to himself, Was this an eclipse?
Or am I 'm dreaming?
Or is the time off?
Another gust pelted the glass. This time it caused his roommate, Kwan Shin, to moan from his deep
slumber.
Kwan turned over to face Tim 's direction.
Shin 's plump limbs were tangled among linen.
"That noise. Please. Stop it," Kwan spoke, half asleep.
Tim rose from his bed wearing his gray cotton shorts, while his brother 's dog tags and stainless

Roman Empire: Roman Bath Houses
In the first to the fourth centuries, Roman bath houses were built with large, windows which are
facing south to let in the sun's warmth. This was because they demanded a great amount of heat. In
the early Roman Empire most baths faced the afternoon sun in wintertime when they had the most
use. They also had their large windows covered with either transparent stone like mica or clear
glass, which was one of the great breakthroughs in architecture and solar technology.
(Links, 1999)The Romans discovered that transparent glass, acts as a solar heat trap, releasing
sunlight into the desired space and holding in the heat so it increases inside. They built glass
greenhouses so they could have fresh fruits and vegetables during the winter .The romans were one
of the first to use the element as a design tool. This was one of the first of examples for using glass
as a heat conductor within a building.
When the breakdown of the Roman Empire began, glassmaking technology perished in Europe to
the fact that it almost disappeared. Gothic cathedrals of the late 12th century and later featured
beautiful bits of coloured glasses, complex designs and were ridiculously expensive. (Design, 2014)
(An example of a rose window within a gothic church)
Within the 13th and 14th centuries, glassmaking was revived in Venice soda–Lime was developed
by glassmakers off the island or Murano in about 1450, and Venetians called this clear, thin glass
cristallo.

Descriptive Essay On Present Day
Present day
While walking through the lush green grass of the retirement home, many thoughts began to swirl in
my mind. I started thinking of the years that have flowed by me like a bullet slicing through the
wind. All the years of fun, enjoyment, sadness and grief. All the moments of desire and hope I can
still feel until this day. My experiences in life through the years have helped me to view the world
today; in a new perspective. Some part of me wishes right now that I was raised up in this era, for
the people are much more open–minded and open to the unknown.
Early 1960's
One afternoon a boy came running up the parchment with his black hair swaying with each step
towards the window. Upon reaching the window, he effortlessly climbed onto the windowsill and
over it. He collapsed onto the floor while the ball he was carrying bounced along the floor. My eyes
followed it until it hit my feet. I raised my gaze from the football that lay at my toes, to suddenly
meet a set of sky blue eyes. I couldn't help but let out a smile, and neither could he.
"Hi," he said in a high tone, his voice cracking mid way through.
"Hi," I said rapidly darting my eyes back down.
"Who are you?," I asked bluntly.
He got up slowly, flinching at the pain in his shoulder; massaging it in order to make them feel
better I guess.
"I saw that the window was open and just thought I had to investigate. I could see your football
trophy from the road and I thought I just had to meet you!. I love

As I was standing in front of the judge many emotions proceeded to give me a nudge,
my heart sank and the tears rolled down my face as if I was trying to fill a river. I knew I

one blanket that the jailor had given to me was not enough to keep me warm in a place so
cold. The privacy I had was very little. The shower and toilet was located in the corner of
the cell but they were not isolated enough to where the other inmates could not see me.
I undressed and dressed inside the shower to have some privacy. I even tried to have
privacy by hanging up a blanket from one corner of a wall stand to another but I got in
trouble by the jailor. All of these things just seemed so horrible and degrading to me.
My first few nights being in the cell called J–1 was scary. There were three other
woman in the cell that was always yelling or fighting over ridiculous things like the
television. Around the corner I could hear the accused killer "Cowboy Mike" always
singing the country songs that he liked so much or the banging of his coffee cup against
the bars of the cell when he was angry. One time he even used the shower curtain rod to
try to escape from his line cell. Even further down the line there was an accused rapist
and of course he had to put his two cents in by always screaming that the devil was
coming after him. All I could think is how scary this was and I wanted out. Not two
days from now nor thirty days I wanted out right then!
I was separated from the outside unable to touch or hold the people that were so
dear to me. It was a lonely feeling; I would hate to see anyone

A computer technician must be familiar with troubleshooting different operating system issues.
Complete the following activity by reading the scenarios and providing appropriate solutions.
Scenario One
As a support technician for a small company, your job is to support the PCs and their users, the
employees. Ben, a coworker, comes to you with a problem. For some reason, Windows XP is not
booting correctly on his computer. Ben is worried, because he has many important data files in
several locations on the hard drive. He does not know which files are located in which folders. Ben
is also worried about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means all those important files will be lost, but it will make the computer work again. This can
be done by booting from the XP CD, which is necessary because we 're about to strip the hard disk
of everything on it and it won 't be able to boot. Follow the instructions on the screen until the
partition list comes up. For this, you want to delete the partition that has the old XP installation on it.
Select it, and press D for delete. Press L to confirm, and it will go away. Now we need a new
partition, so select the unpartitioned space and press C. Tell it how much of the space you want to
use, or just hit enter for all of it. Next we can choose to format it with NTSF system with either
Quick or Full options, and after that it will get into setting up the XP files. This will be a completely
fresh setup, so any other data will have to be reinstalled; drivers and other files.
Scenario Two
A friend of yours, Craig, recently upgraded his Windows 2000 software to Windows XP. Following
the installation, Craig attempted to connect to the Internet using his dial–up modem but has been
unsuccessful. He tells you that it seems as if the modem refuses to work, and he asks you for help.
He tells you the 56K modem came installed in the original PC. Plan your troubleshooting approach

The Importance Of Having A Honey-Do-List
If you are married, it's safe to say that you probably have a honey–do–list. That's kind of a
prerequisite for marriage...right? Not much makes a wife happier than being surprised by her
husband taking care of something on the honey–do–list. Need some help with a surprise? Here is a
short list of items that show up on those honey–do–lists. Many you can pull off in a day or so. Some
things you will be able to do yourself, others you may need a friend to help. 1.Does your wife
struggle to get that old shower head clean? Change out the shower head. Get rid of that old
"standard" and get one of those big shower heads. You can pull this off pretty easily. A trip to your

What else are you going to do? Wait for some man to come along and whisk you off to suburban
marital bliss? You might as well ask for the moon by noon. Consider the facts. You made it this far
on your own, earning a living and paying the bills all by yourself. You even managed to invest
enough money to slap down the minimum five per cent and start calling yourself a homeowner.
After all, you're faced with another 40 plus years––knock on wood––so it's time to put down some
roots. But what happens after you move into your new dream house? Suddenly, you're dealing with
a new set of monthly expenses. Throw out the budget that carried you through the last few years; it's
time to build a new one from scratch. Once you have a new budget, start saving like you plan to buy
a second house in a few years. You're going to need all that extra cash for things for which no
budget can truly prepare you, such as repairs, renovations, and interior design––necessarily in that
order. Repairs come first because you need to fix whatever is broken. Did you get a great deal on a
handyman's dream? Did you stop to consider whether or not you're handy? Also, don't forget that
appliances, heaters, furnaces, and oil tanks have a habit of breaking down at the least convenient
times, schedules and finances notwithstanding. Before you even think about redecorating your new
house, take a hard look at the layout.

Short Story : Savage Syrup : A Story?
It was a bright sunny day in the town of Breakfast, everyone was at work. Savage Syrup sat quietly
at his desk, although it was very hard to concentrate. He had a conjoined office with Peter pancake
and Kip chocolate chip. They are his best friends, but they always argued. " No Peter!", "I can do
what I want Kip!". Of course Peter and Kip were friends, but sometimes they didn't get along.
Savage syrup was counting the minutes until he could leave. Savage, Peter, and Kip were all
undercover heroes. When anyone was in trouble they went and helped. They all three worked at City
hall, on the mysterious cases of violent activity. Savage syrup and Peter pancake were the best of
friends, they did everything together. This made Kip jealous, but he didn't tell them he just gave
hints. The next day at work was even worse. " You now what Peter!", " You don't even want me here
do you?", "No, I don't" said Peter. The argueing went on and on, like two dogs fighting over a bone.
The result wasn't too pleasant. Savage syrup tried breaking up the mess , but it was no use. Savage
laid his head on his desk, and suddenly the arguing stopped. Savage was very happy until he realized
what happened. Peter had kicked Kip out. " I don't want you in my batter anymore!" ,"Much less my
office!". That was that, Savage sat waiting for Peter to talk to him about it, but a word wasn't said.
The work day was soon over, and peter stormed out without a glance. That night Savage went home
to his pantry. He

Gloria Mayweather : Off Daydreaming Again

dragon attack she had been on her own. She craves the company of another person deeply.
There are a few things you should know about Gloria. First of all, we all know she's an orphan. The
19 year old Princess wasn't like most princesses you see. She wasn't beautiful or nice or anything
like that. She was tall and disgustingly scrawny. She was as pale as a ghost and had freckles and
warts all over her body. Her eyes were sunken in and she had purplish bruise like circles under them.

and queen were alive the valley thrived. Flowers blossomed everywhere and the trees were full of
fruit. The people were happy and animals scurried about. The people also missed the princess. They
wanted a leader and someone to help them. They hadn't seen her since she was a child. She used to
be a joyful little soul. Over time she became afraid of the people. The kids would make fun of her
appearance and gawk at her whenever she was around. She locked herself inside the castle for years
terrified of going outside. After the princesses parents died she grew even more bitter. She wanted to
help her people and knew it was her responsibility but she was too afraid to go outside the castle

"If only I was a pretty princess," she whispered gently. Gloria gulped. She glanced at her reflection

Reflection Of A Glass Window
The object I chose to draw was a stained glass window depicting the thirteenth station of the cross,
where the crucified Jesus is laid into the arms of His mother, Mary. This object is colorful and vivid,
with the people in the window image portrayed in bright colors in contrast to the background. In
addition, the people portrayed have precise naturalistic details and proportions regarding their
clothing, bodies, and facial expressions. Through the exercise of drawing this stained glass window
of the thirteenth station, I learned about proportionality, black space, and unification. I also learned
how the Catholic faith can relate to these different aspects of drawing. I started drawing the border
and outlines of the image; not the entire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Otherwise, the entire image would not look right. I did not finish drawing the window because I
wanted to place the parts proportionately so as to accurately portray the window as a whole. The
window's detail did not serve as a priority in the drawing exercise because I believed the unity of its
parts was central to making it look as accurate as possible. Additionally, I learned that the
unification of the drawing's parts were necessary in drawing the window. It can be said in the
spiritual life that Jesus makes our brokenness whole and creates beauty out of it, much like how the
beauty of stained glass window only makes sense as a unified whole. I took some time in the
beginning of the drawing exercise to examine the window for a second time, which allowed me to
see that these pieces only made sense together. Yes, the pieces of stained glass are pretty by
themselves, but they only form the image of the thirteenth station when together. Examining the
stained glass window for a second time also allowed me to notice black spaces in between the pieces
of stained glass. I learned that these areas of black space not only separate each part, but are also
essential to the beauty of the window, and that drawing images is as much about using space well as
it is about detail. In an art history class I took last year, I learned that there was a period of time
where artists would use all available space on a surface out of fear of

My Night : My First Day
It was September 11th, I had just gotten to work and I was headed to my office. I sipped my coffee
as people in the halls welcomed me back. I had been sick and I had to miss about a week of work.
Today was my first day back. When I reached my office it felt pretty good to finally be back.
I had been working on my computer for around three in a half hours before I heard people in the hall
outside of my office . I went to go make sure everything was ok. When I walked out of my office,
there was a big clump of people at the window talking about something they could see in the
distance out of the window. I decided to look for myself to see what everyone was talking about.
People let me through so I could look out of the big glass window too. The sun was shining at that
angle so it took me a minute for my eyes to adjust. But as soon as they did, I saw a blackish grey
blob far away but heading in our direction. Nobody could tell what it was, but nobody really stuck
around for much longer either. We all went to our offices and started to grab our stuff because we
didn't know why the thing we saw out of the window was doing heading in our direction.
I had been stuffing as much stuff I could grab into my work bag, then I heard people yelling, "It's a
plane!" " Everyone, take cover it's heading right towards us!" someone else yelled. Terrified, I ran
towards the stairs trying to get out of there as fast as I could. "BOOM!" "CRASH!" The whole

Shaylin's voice was soft as she replied. "Does it truly matter? My Father told me that with your

I stood for a second and took a deep breath of fresh air. The crisp, untouched air flowed as I inhaled
the new environment. Too much air began to drift towards me because I was the only one there. It
seemed as if everything around me was empty yet, I knew there were others around. It was a surreal
moment, nothing but my thoughts and my family populated the airport. As we slowly wandered to
the car, the quiet and serene area engulfed us. We remained silent the entire journey to the car; we
were too shocked about moving to Michigan to talk. Clear droplets slowly began to fall on the

My First Night Living At A New Neighborhood
Gun shots in the distance, dogs barking from of police sirens, the sound of footsteps asphalt. Hiding
under my sleeping bag breathing hard I think to myself, "how the heck did we move from a safe
neighborhood to this shit town?" Rolling myself over on my hands and knees off my makeshift bed I
carefully listen to my surroundings –– nothing. A sigh of relief comes out of me as I force my eyes
to adjust to the darkness in my room focusing on my bedroom window trying to remember if I
locked it. My first night living in a new neighborhood was going fantastic! I have never been so
scared in my life. My family and I had lived in trailer homes before, but not one with this type of
neighborhood. I remember my grandmother would warn me about the house being broken into
several times before which gave me caution before she accepted us into her house. The neighbors
across the street were probably the worst people you ever meet. They seemed violent, like those
types of people that you would not dare to make eye contact with. My mother, father, and
grandmother would never get along with them blaming each other for a missing tool in our yard or
once there was a missing trashcan. Looking outside my parents' new bedroom window my mother
noticed the traffic out new neighbors had and she began to spit venom at their name under her
breath. Ignoring her I stuck my head out the window even more gripping to the window sill which
made my knuckles turn white taking in my new neighborhood. A mobile

Christianity: Stained-Glass Windows
For this assignment, I've been assigned the stained glass window, that are decorated in the church.
Stain glass windows have a great deal of history in the church. They represent the true meaning of
that church and tell stories about Jesus. Stain glass windows are suspected to be started from
Egyptians, however, stain glass windows were also used by Romans; they would place them inside
of their homes. During 646 AD, some of the oldest pieces of stained glass were found in St. Paul's
Monastery. However, during the 10th century, some of the earliest pieces of stained glass were
found in, Lorsch Abbey in Germany. During, the Renaissance period, stained glass windows, began
to decline, however, they did revive back up again; in the 1800s. Stained ... Show more content on

While also, telling a story. Stain glass windows are very important, they depict scenes of the bible;
making them sacred. By, having stained glass windows; depict scenes from the bible, it
allows/allowed people to understand the bible clearer. Therefore, making it essential to worship.
How does this particular item lead one to worship God better and experience God? Stained–glass
windows allow one to worship God better, by visually seeing all the things; He has done for us.
They allow us to, actually feel, his presence better, and feel as though we are part of his story. When
I enter a church and see all the stained–glass windows; I can't help but not to feel happy because, I
feel the presence of God with me. He is all around the church, showing the people of the church his
story and allowing us to experience it with him spiritually. This allows, my faith to grow even more
for God and it brings me closer to him spiritually and physically. I experience God, through the
windows, when the light shines through the window. I love that feeling when I'm in church and I'm
praying to God and all of the sudden light shines through the stain glass windows and makes the
whole church light up. It makes me feel safe and lets me know that God is always with

Marcel Duchamp Fresh Widow Essay
Marcel Duchamp's Fresh Widow was created in 1920, and is on display at the Museum of Modern
Art (MoMA). Fresh Widow is a bluish green miniature French window, which he constructed with
wood and leather. The Fresh Widow is considered to be a part of the Dadaist period and retains
qualities of dadaism in that it is a stand alone object, that has been completely stripped of its utility
and function. In addition, across the window sill, Duchamp wrote "COPYRIGHT" in capitalized
black letters referring to the classic dadaist rejection of the commodification or reproduction of art.
Duchamp created the Fresh Widow two years after the end of World War I. World War I was
traumatizing and horrific for most of Europe, with millions of men being killed. The timing of
Duchamp's Fresh Widow, the title, as well as the form of his piece all work together to represent the
losses felt by wives in France during the war. The use of a French window that has been blacked out
by black leather, as well as the bluish–green color of the wood is a reference to the macabre realities
of war and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following World War I, widows were abundant. Duchamp's piece illustrates the grief stricken
emotional and deadened vision widows had after the war when their wounds were ripe and unable to
be restrained. The widow is much like Duchamp's window– impenetrable and unreadable. The
viewer cannot see the vision of the widow because the widow herself cannot she her own vision.
Much like the inability of the viewer to look through the glass, the widow cannot look to somewhere
else, to a different place. The viewer is left with an intimate bond with the widow, experiencing her
inability to create a vision but is also left at a distance from the widow because of the viewer's
inability to read her emotions and thought processes. The widow is draped in a veil of mourning and
sadness much like the window is covered by black

The Golden Princess Persuasive Speech
As the princess waves her hand slightly to the right, signaling that the young man should choose the
right door, the man starts to cautiously make his way towards it. Just before he could grab the silver
lever, he thinks to himself, "What if the princess knew I was going to pick the right door leading me
to the lady, instead of leading me to the ferocious man–eating tiger? Why would she want me to be
with another woman whom she thinks is dire? I cannot go through with this barbaric decision." In
one instant, the young man turns swiftly to look back at the Princess, who is staring at him with fear
and softly mouthing to him, "Choose the right door." He disregards her and turns to the left door,
which is latched by an enormous silver lever and he opens it with ease. While the young man tries to
see through the blackness, the princess quietly gets up from her seat and sneaks out of the arena.
The crowd gasps and cheers as the young man and the beating red tiger's eyes meet. The man's
palms start sweating as the the orange and black beast slowly backs him into the door of from which
he entered. Looking above him, he sees that the crowd as well as the king, are smiling and laughing
at him as if it was amusing, but the princess is nowhere in sight. As the young man starts to scan the
crowd for the princess, his thoughts are broken by an enormous bang! Just as the young man backs
into the corner of the opposite end of where he and the tiger met, the princess swings the door open

Mrs. Hanson's Life
Mrs. Hanson was the first to use it, when she realized that the moon, when full, hung centered in the
top right pane, and the summer evening breezes seemed always to find their way through it.
Nights she would sit, rocking baby Chance to sleep, the bicycle bells, and laughter, and ice cream
trucks the only things that seemed to lull him into sleep. Not singing, not the music box, only the
scattered, mingling of sounds from the city street below. So she kept the rocker near the window,
and on full moon summer nights, she would sit with her baby boy, both of them soothed and calmed
by what lay beyond. And she sang anyway, to herself, as much as the boy.
"Hush little baby, don 't say word..."
That 's when the townhouse was just that –– a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the rocker. Rocking. Beneath a quiet summer moon.
Skye Kenwood rented the apartment on the top floor as soon as the building became available. She
didn 't mind the four floor walk–up, she 'd rather be above looking down.
It was the windows that drew her to the apartment, mounted in the curved, bay wall of the building,
and rising to nearly the ceiling. She knew right away that she would make a bay window seat for the
one on the left, where the breeze seemed always to billow the curtains there.
In the spring she would sit on that seat with her sketch pad, looking down on the life below,
scurrying and hurrying, like blood vessels through a vein.
Sometimes she would lift the screen and sprinkle bird seed on the small ledge outside, then sit and
wait for any takers. Mostly there were pigeons, but occasionally she fed a sparrow or two, or on a
truly fortuitous day, a mourning dove would settle there and coo his melancholy song.
But moments as such would last only as long as her ambitious feline remained ignorant of the
potential prey 's existence.
Skye soon found there were fewer places she 'd rather be than on her perch, nestled on pillows,
watching the world in its never–ending, maddening ballet.
Skye made her home there for nearly four years, painting the molding around the windows, hanging
stained glass ovals where the morning sun would have little choice but to pass through them on its
way to her sofa.
She painted what she saw

A Morning by the Window: A Descriptive Essay of a Winter Day

  • 1. First Day-Day Descriptive Writing The First December Day I woke slowly, eyelashes fluttering gently as I blinked my way into reality–– gently rising from the slumber I had plunged into the night before. Sunlight was just barely sneaking through the bamboo blinds of my light pink room, leaving my bed in a shadow of deep purple as if it was afraid to pull me from my dreaming too soon. The room was still chilly and the floorboards a frigid slate of ice as I pulled on the slipper–socks that my mother had set beside my bed, and sleepily padded over to the window. With a soft yawn and a stretch, I slowly tugged on the fraying, yellowed string controlling the shades, fiddling with it slightly as I pulled with all of the might that my tiny form could allow. Bit by bit, I slowly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was towering in a glorious and perfect upside–down–ice–cream–cone shape, a soft teal, with spines that were more plastic than they were needles. My father tamed it gently with his hand, and proceeded to trim the bottom branches. With the earsplitting shriek of the chainsaw, and a few tense moments later, the tree plummeted gracefully to the ground, and my father hoisted it up onto his shoulders, propping it on the van before giving it a final shove onto the roof. I retrieved the string to tie it up from the back seat. The bulky twine was surprisingly smooth to the touch, gliding comfortably between my fingers as the ball unwound. Amazed by this, I promptly called out "Daddy! Can I have a piece?" The reply was of course a short laugh and an, "Of course, pumpkin," from my father, as we finished securing the tree and prepared to go home. The little coconut–cream colored rope, now filled with the dizzying aroma of pine, twirled smoothly between my fingers as I toyed with it dreamily, leaning myself against the window and gazing at the immaculate, snow–draped scenery sweeping by. A small yawn escaped as the day came to its close, my eyes fluttering shut, and hands stopping their movements. Sleep took me just as softly as it had let me go, an old friend leading me back to my dreams–– aided by the subtle, thumping lullaby of returning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"Yes, Leonard we are a little banged up but we should be fine can you move what is blocking the door I can't get it to give way!" Salomon shouted though the barricaded door. "This cargo is too heavy for just one man see if one of you can fit though the porthole!" Leonard yelled back as water rushed in from the side filling up the hallway then started leaking into the bedroom soaking their shoes. "Papa what are we going to do the window is too small for you or Mama to go through? How do we get out?" Salomon realizing what had to be down looked at his wife and that was all he had to do and she understood so both of her parents kneeled down to Victoria's level and said "Kitten you will have to go through that window alone." Victoria's eyes rippled in her tears as they fell off her face like a stream she tried to respond and asked her parents "How do you get off I can't go without you we have to find another way." Celina ran her hand though her daughter's smooth hair while Salomon wiped the tears from her soft face. "Sweetheart we are not going to give up we will do everything to get out of here with hopefully with Leonard's help but if we can't find a way out you will have a better chance of surviving you must go ahead just remember that we love you Victoria." Then they took her hand and opened her palm and putting a small, gold knife with a small ruby at the meeting point between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A strong stench of month–old fruit, cigarette smoke and general grime was hidden only by wafting aftershave, purchased at last weeks five dollar sale. Glued across the grey vinyl upholstery were crumbs of every imaginable food source, accompanied by a myriad of colourful drink stains. A selection of ear–aching top one hundred 80s hits hummed over the radio as the engine chugged and gurgled. The car was red, or at least it would have been before streaks of copper coloured rust engulfed the ageing steel. I looked outside at endless rows of traffic and smelt the the pungent car fumes filling my nostrils. Here in this rolling pile of grey, I felt consumed by circles pollution. Heat was creating shimmery mirages across the black bitumen surface. A long jail–like fence enclosed the miles of road, blocking any sight of green that lay beyond. It created an imposing shadow across the lanes of pavement lying in front. Like an old security guard, the fence was strong but silent, a present reminder of safety but also of restriction. The sky was coloured like a graphite sketch, a blended mix of greys. Flocks of squawking birds were flying overhead but their calls were barely audible beneath chords of blearing car horns. The air was heavy to breathe, a strange putrid cocktail of smoke, petrol and humidity. I turned my mind back to the station wagon as the wheels began to roll and the traffic finally ... It wasn't the banging noise on the door that jarred his concentration off track, but rather the reason behind the blasted knocking. He hears it yell unspoken threats to him behind one of the 20 identical wooden doors that line up and down the hallway. He knew this moment would come, but expected it to arrive much later. He truly doesn't belong in this clan. No one in the Clan of Knowledge is allowed to be wrong. Five seconds pass, and the fist bangs on the door three more times. He makes no effort in answering the door and instead gazes at it knowing that it will give forced entry to those behind it when they realize that no one will be there to answer their ... Their minds altered , their brains, washed of the grime that allowed their logic to break apart. He knew he had to leave, to run, if he wanted to stay being himself. He wondered what his next move would be. In his dull gray nightwear, that matched the entire layout of the neat dorm room. He pondered at his next move. When fully focused it seemed as if time had stepped aside and left him to his own doings, in his own world. In the deep, black canvas of his mind, colored dots shoot across each other like the protons and electrons of atoms. The dots play around until they became one fuzzy image. In the dimness of his gray dorm room he squinted, The fuzz cleared and the image became distinguishable. A photograph, of the gray square room he sat inside. The photograph showed him, sitting at his computer desk table. His pale face illuminated by the blank white light of his computer screen. His gray shirt, gray pair of sweatpants, almost faded into the wall behind him. He was crouching heavily over his desk. Soon the photograph doubled. An almost exact copy, but with a single difference that could have been easily missed if one was not careful. His body raised over the table a few inches higher. His angle, was now only slight. • 9. A Short Story : A Story? "We will be back at twelve. Don't let any strangers in and let the dog out when you can," said my mother. "Okay. I will, bye. love you." I said quickly pushing them out the door. "Julia will be home around eleven to get her bag for Raelynn's house,"my mother said as she grabbed her purse. "yes I know. Bye!" I said once more. I heard the two bright headlights turn on and the old rickety car engine start. As i bounced on the couch and watched them leave from the front window I had the house to myself. Of course as a teenager I was gonna invite a friend over so I invited my best friend. She came over around nine thirty. We sat around the fireplace and watched some cartoons as we munched on salty popcorn. The both of us sat on our phones and snapchatted other people. *clink* "Did you hear that?" said Bella. "Hear what?" I said nervously. She looked around and closed the curtains until you couldn't see in. She said in a low voice, "that clink?" I was confused. What was she talking about? "I didn't hear anything. Did you hear something?" I said curious. "Um yes. How did you not hear that." Bella said frightenedly. "It's fine. It's probably the dog or the wind or something." i said as I scrolled through instagram posts. "Don't just lay that off like it was nothing Mia, I know you heard it too." she said angrily. She was right, I did hear it and I was deathly afraid of what it was, but I was praying it was the dog. "No I didn't. I heard absolutely nothing." I said right before the ... Remembering the little, old washwoman who used to do their linens almost every week, Isaac Singer whistled while walking through the beautiful wooden door. "Hey, Mama," he quietly said, kissing her on the forehead as he passed her in her rocking chair. "Hi, sweetie," Mama said softly, not looking up from her embroidery work. Isaac put the laundry on the bed in the room that he had claimed as a small boy. Small pebbles hit the glass window toward the far left corner of the room. Tiptoeing to look out, he saw the red, curly locks of his fiance as her face peaked through the window pane. Silently, she mouthed, "Can you meet me by the bakery?" ... The fear of his nightmare had kept him paralyzed at home for years. Isaac was now in his thirties and he could have left years ago. Shaking off the memories, he looked at himself in the mirror, straightened his collar, sniffed, and walked confidently past Mama and out the door down the pathway toward the baker's haven. After buying a couple of pastries, Isaac and Kate went to sit by the river and talk a while. Keeping one hand firmly grasped around his pastry, in his other hand, Isaac fingered the moss by the edge of the river. Kate was humming a tune, trying to get the mockingbird's to copy her song. Believe me, I never will know how so many people can fit in our small house, especially when 90% are under ten. "The house will probably be knocked over by tomorrow," I thought glumly as I stared out the window at the rain, trying to drown out the noise in the background. You may think you know how Cinderella's story went but it's not true I am not just one of the evil stepsister. This is what really happened. Mother treated cinderella terribly and I hate it. I want to be kind to her because she is kind to us even with the way we treat her. We got a letter in the mail that had a red castle stamp on the back which meant it was from the royal family. It read, " All members of this household are invited to join us at the royal ball where the prince will pick one mayden to dance with." I was thrilled because Cinderella would actually be able to go out for a night... But of course my mother had to come in the way. " You cannot go unless you sweep the floors, wash the dishes, clean the barn, dust the shoes, tidy our rooms and groom the horses" She gave her so much work that it would be nearly impossible for cinderella to attend the ball. Cinderella knew if she even wanted a chance at going to the ball that she would have to get to work. While Cinderella did her chores my mother, sister, and I started to get ready for the ball we did everything from hair to makeup and mother walked into my room with a beautiful Emerald velvet gown with shimmery crystals lining the bottom. When I tried it on it looked almost as Whimsical as the clouds. as time went by we were astonished to hear Cinderella working in the sewing room. we walked over to the room only to see the sight of Cinderella and a beautiful gown it was once her mother's. my mother said " you cannot go to the ball the chores can not possibly be done" " they are, all of them" my mother stepped closer and started to tear the dress and rip off pieces my sister did as well... And so did I. rip... • 23. Moths Interpretation Essay Nature is the most beautiful as well as the most dangerous thing. It offers a lot of threats as well as wonders. The human is the humble creature who might only see the nature by its dark side. We are living the inside world, and nature is outside. We think we are independent as we isolate ourselves. Adam Zagajewski's "Moths" is a wonderful yet imagistic poem which captures a great sense of how human observed and felt about nature: startle and tear away. It offers the readers a snapshot view of a moment, an experience when our little worlds of safety met the unknown world outside. Johari Window Is Real Me When I started planning to write my paper I thought it was going to be a fairly simple task: I would use the Johari window template to organize the different components of my identity. However, before actually starting to write, I decided it was best to peruse the articles and videos provided in the lesson. Afterwards I realized that perhaps the assignment was not as simple as I thought it would be. In his Ted Talk "Is there a real you?", Julian Baggini compares identity to a waterfall, which made me realize that since we are in constant sate of change there is not such a thing as a permanent version of me. Clearly there is an essence that prevails. Even though my core values and ideals have changed slightly through out the years, I have mostly been following the same moral guidelines my whole life. We each took a piece of bread out of the bag and spread the peanut butter till it was smooth on the bread. Then took the grape jelly and slobbered that on and took a shark bite out of it. They were running late. Tim hated the thought for being late, for anything. Tim pushed his back upwardly, propping up his elbows to survey his modest surroundings. The Hotel Samarra room had two twin beds, divided by a nightstand and a wobbly brass lamp. A dresser sat nearby the foot of Tim 's bed with a 1980 's Sylvania TV/VCR combo set. Across from the dresser was a raggedy desk and chair, nearest the entrance. It reminded Williams of a motel accommodation. • 40. Roman Empire: Roman Bath Houses In the first to the fourth centuries, Roman bath houses were built with large, windows which are facing south to let in the sun's warmth. This was because they demanded a great amount of heat. In the early Roman Empire most baths faced the afternoon sun in wintertime when they had the most use. They also had their large windows covered with either transparent stone like mica or clear glass, which was one of the great breakthroughs in architecture and solar technology. (Links, 1999)The Romans discovered that transparent glass, acts as a solar heat trap, releasing sunlight into the desired space and holding in the heat so it increases inside. They built glass greenhouses so they could have fresh fruits and vegetables during the winter .The romans were one of the first to use the element as a design tool. This was one of the first of examples for using glass as a heat conductor within a building. Here is a short list of items that show up on those honey–do–lists. Many you can pull off in a day or so. Some things you will be able to do yourself, others you may need a friend to help. 1.Does your wife struggle to get that old shower head clean? Change out the shower head. You might as well ask for the moon by noon. Consider the facts. You made it this far on your own, earning a living and paying the bills all by yourself. You even managed to invest enough money to slap down the minimum five per cent and start calling yourself a homeowner. After all, you're faced with another 40 plus years––knock on wood––so it's time to put down some roots. But what happens after you move into your new dream house? Suddenly, you're dealing with a new set of monthly expenses. Throw out the budget that carried you through the last few years; it's time to build a new one from scratch. Once you have a new budget, start saving like you plan to buy a second house in a few years. You're going to need all that extra cash for things for which no budget can truly prepare you, such as repairs, renovations, and interior design––necessarily in that order. Repairs come first because you need to fix whatever is broken. Did you get a great deal on a handyman's dream? Did you stop to consider whether or not you're handy? • 52. Short Story : Savage Syrup : A Story? It was a bright sunny day in the town of Breakfast, everyone was at work. Savage Syrup sat quietly at his desk, although it was very hard to concentrate. He had a conjoined office with Peter pancake and Kip chocolate chip. They are his best friends, but they always argued. " No Peter!", "I can do what I want Kip!". Of course Peter and Kip were friends, but sometimes they didn't get along. Savage syrup was counting the minutes until he could leave. Savage, Peter, and Kip were all undercover heroes. When anyone was in trouble they went and helped. They all three worked at City hall, on the mysterious cases of violent activity. Savage syrup and Peter pancake were the best of friends, they did everything together. This made Kip jealous, but he didn't tell them he just gave hints. The next day at work was even worse. " You now what Peter!", " You don't even want me here do you?", "No, I don't" said Peter. The argueing went on and on, like two dogs fighting over a bone. The result wasn't too pleasant. Savage syrup tried breaking up the mess , but it was no use. Savage laid his head on his desk, and suddenly the arguing stopped. Savage was very happy until he realized what happened. Peter had kicked Kip out. " I don't want you in my batter anymore!" ,"Much less my office!". That was that, Savage sat waiting for Peter to talk to him about it, but a word wasn't said. The 19 year old Princess wasn't like most princesses you see. She wasn't beautiful or nice or anything like that. She was tall and disgustingly scrawny. Flowers blossomed everywhere and the trees were full of fruit. The people were happy and animals scurried about. The people also missed the princess. They wanted a leader and someone to help them. They hadn't seen her since she was a child. She used to be a joyful little soul. Over time she became afraid of the people. The kids would make fun of her appearance and gawk at her whenever she was around. She locked herself inside the castle for years terrified of going outside. After the princesses parents died she grew even more bitter. She wanted to help her people and knew it was her responsibility but she was too afraid to go outside the castle walls. "If only I was a pretty princess," she whispered gently. Gloria gulped. She glanced at her reflection through the glass window. "I would do anything.." she thought. Tomorrow was Gloria's birthday but instead of being excited she dreaded it. It marked another year she had been without her parents. As the sun went down she gazed over the city. • 60. Reflection Of A Glass Window The object I chose to draw was a stained glass window depicting the thirteenth station of the cross, where the crucified Jesus is laid into the arms of His mother, Mary. This object is colorful and vivid, with the people in the window image portrayed in bright colors in contrast to the background. In addition, the people portrayed have precise naturalistic details and proportions regarding their clothing, bodies, and facial expressions. Through the exercise of drawing this stained glass window of the thirteenth station, I learned about proportionality, black space, and unification. I also learned how the Catholic faith can relate to these different aspects of drawing. I started drawing the border and outlines of the image; not the entire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Otherwise, the entire image would not look right. I did not finish drawing the window because I wanted to place the parts proportionately so as to accurately portray the window as a whole. The window's detail did not serve as a priority in the drawing exercise because I believed the unity of its parts was central to making it look as accurate as possible. Additionally, I learned that the unification of the drawing's parts were necessary in drawing the window. It can be said in the spiritual life that Jesus makes our brokenness whole and creates beauty out of it, much like how the beauty of stained glass window only makes sense as a unified whole. I took some time in the beginning of the drawing exercise to examine the window for a second time, which allowed me to see that these pieces only made sense together. Yes, the pieces of stained glass are pretty by themselves, but they only form the image of the thirteenth station when together. Examining the stained glass window for a second time also allowed me to notice black spaces in between the pieces of stained glass. I learned that these areas of black space not only separate each part, but are also essential to the beauty of the window, and that drawing images is as much about using space well as it is about detail. In an art history class I took last year, I learned that there was a period of time where artists would use all available space on a surface out of fear of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 62. My Night : My First Day It was September 11th, I had just gotten to work and I was headed to my office. I sipped my coffee as people in the halls welcomed me back. I had been sick and I had to miss about a week of work. Today was my first day back. When I reached my office it felt pretty good to finally be back. I had been working on my computer for around three in a half hours before I heard people in the hall outside of my office . I went to go make sure everything was ok. When I walked out of my office, there was a big clump of people at the window talking about something they could see in the distance out of the window. I decided to look for myself to see what everyone was talking about. People let me through so I could look out of the big glass window too. The sun was shining at that angle so it took me a minute for my eyes to adjust. But as soon as they did, I saw a blackish grey blob far away but heading in our direction. Nobody could tell what it was, but nobody really stuck around for much longer either. We all went to our offices and started to grab our stuff because we didn't know why the thing we saw out of the window was doing heading in our direction. I had been stuffing as much stuff I could grab into my work bag, then I heard people yelling, "It's a plane!" " Everyone, take cover it's heading right towards us!" someone else yelled. Keen could perceive that although she was smiling she was not happy. "Yes, we should talk, but not here." Keen took her hand and lead her around the corner behind the buildings. Keen turned to face Shaylin, "I must understand how you perceive me." Shaylin's voice was soft as she replied. "Does it truly matter? Too much air began to drift towards me because I was the only one there. It seemed as if everything around me was empty yet, I knew there were others around. It was a surreal moment, nothing but my thoughts and my family populated the airport. As we slowly wandered to the car, the quiet and serene area engulfed us. We remained silent the entire journey to the car; we were too shocked about moving to Michigan to talk. Clear droplets slowly began to fall on the window pane. Each one becoming more and more aggressive and mesmerizing. The loop of the pitter–patter was all I could hear even though my parents were making small talk. My favorite thing to watch were the lights on a car when it was raining, but now no one would stay close enough to see their lights though the backseat window. Hiding under my sleeping bag breathing hard I think to myself, "how the heck did we move from a safe neighborhood to this shit town?" Rolling myself over on my hands and knees off my makeshift bed I carefully listen to my surroundings –– nothing. A sigh of relief comes out of me as I force my eyes to adjust to the darkness in my room focusing on my bedroom window trying to remember if I locked it. My first night living in a new neighborhood was going fantastic! I have never been so scared in my life. My family and I had lived in trailer homes before, but not one with this type of neighborhood. I remember my grandmother would warn me about the house being broken into several times before which gave me caution before she accepted us into her house. The neighbors across the street were probably the worst people you ever meet. They seemed violent, like those types of people that you would not dare to make eye contact with. My mother, father, and grandmother would never get along with them blaming each other for a missing tool in our yard or once there was a missing trashcan. Looking outside my parents' new bedroom window my mother noticed the traffic out new neighbors had and she began to spit venom at their name under her breath. Ignoring her I stuck my head out the window even more gripping to the window sill which made my knuckles turn white taking in my new neighborhood. A mobile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stain glass windows have a great deal of history in the church. They represent the true meaning of that church and tell stories about Jesus. Stain glass windows are suspected to be started from Egyptians, however, stain glass windows were also used by Romans; they would place them inside of their homes. During 646 AD, some of the oldest pieces of stained glass were found in St. Paul's Monastery. However, during the 10th century, some of the earliest pieces of stained glass were found in, Lorsch Abbey in Germany. • 76. Marcel Duchamp Fresh Widow Essay Marcel Duchamp's Fresh Widow was created in 1920, and is on display at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Fresh Widow is a bluish green miniature French window, which he constructed with wood and leather. The Fresh Widow is considered to be a part of the Dadaist period and retains qualities of dadaism in that it is a stand alone object, that has been completely stripped of its utility and function. In addition, across the window sill, Duchamp wrote "COPYRIGHT" in capitalized black letters referring to the classic dadaist rejection of the commodification or reproduction of art. Duchamp created the Fresh Widow two years after the end of World War I. World War I was traumatizing and horrific for most of Europe, with millions of men being killed. The timing of Duchamp's Fresh Widow, the title, as well as the form of his piece all work together to represent the losses felt by wives in France during the war. The use of a French window that has been blacked out by black leather, as well as the bluish–green color of the wood is a reference to the macabre realities of war and the ... She didn 't mind the four floor walk–up, she 'd rather be above looking down. It was the windows that drew her to the apartment, mounted in the curved, bay wall of the building, and rising to nearly the ceiling. She knew right away that she would make a bay window seat for the one on the left, where the breeze seemed always to billow the curtains there. In the spring she would sit on that seat with her sketch pad, looking down on the life below, scurrying and hurrying, like blood vessels through a vein. Sometimes she would lift the screen and sprinkle bird seed on the small ledge outside, then sit and wait for any takers. Mostly there were pigeons, but occasionally she fed a sparrow or two, or on a truly fortuitous day, a mourning dove would settle there and coo his melancholy song. But moments as such would last only as long as her ambitious feline remained ignorant of the potential prey 's existence. Skye soon found there were fewer places she 'd rather be than on her perch, nestled on pillows, watching the world in its never–ending, maddening ballet.
