Parkinson's disease affects over a million individuals. The researchers aim to create a quantifiable metric to assess Parkinson's disease progression using a wearable device containing an accelerometer and gyroscope. By analyzing tremor data collected from these sensors in terms of frequency, severity, and occurrence, they hope to provide a more objective measure than physician evaluation alone. Initial results found tremor frequency could be isolated using frequency analysis techniques like a running FFT. More analysis is still needed to fully quantify tremor amplitude.
