CONTEMPORARY BUSINESS STRATEGY - THE BIG ISSUE FOUNDATIONMaxie Tran
This report consists of three main sections that focus on analyzing and evaluating the current situation of "The Big Issue Foundation" (a non-profit organization which will be referred in short as 'TBI' in the report). Through answering the requests, the report also offers a number of suggestion for TBI' strategy that they should concern to keep promoting the value of their brand and image in the future of next 5-7 years.
Methods of analysis include the use of analytical business models as SWOT, Porter's Five Forces, McKinsey 7S to have a specific look for internal capabilities of TBI as well as apply PESTEL to assess factors affecting from the external environment. Then by using TOWS model, the report proposes some recommendation for business strategies of TBI (e.g. how to maximize the company' strengths to take advantage of their opportunities).
Results of data analyzed show that TBI can face the most with the impact from the changes of technology in the present time as also in near future, when more and more customers are moving towards the digital products. Nonetheless, the report also indicates that TBI, with their unique distribution model, accompanied by the distinct brand values, along with an excellent leadership team would have the solution even for the worst case scenario to their business. The general conclusion is that the current situation of the company has no bad sign but their financial issues need to be considered further when most the funding of TBI depends mainly from the external sources' contribution.
The report also investigates the fact that the analysis conducted has limitations. All data and information were searching from the Internet and analysis has mainly been focused on the financial statement of the business; therefore, the report may not avoid some shortcomings as well as the subjective perspectives. In addition, the most recent information in the present time has not been announced and the predictions of the TBI's business in the future are based on past performance.

CHAPTER 3. METHODOLOGY
Purpose of the Study
In the reviewed literature, cyberbullying and school bullying have been identified as the risk factors of social media (Underwood & Ehrenreich, 2017). However, even with the identified risks of social media, there has been increasing in penetration of internet access and growing use of the telephones and social media networking sites exposing teenagers to more danger. Schools have and others are adopting e-learning which creates space for students to interact on social media.
Considering the environment that we are living, in some cases, teachers are not aware of the impact of the cyberbullying and school bullying to academic performance. In other cases, students do not report incidences of the cyberbullying and school bullying which means they continue to suffer in silence. It is within this basis that this study is conducted which will seek to identify the connection of the cyberbullying and school bullying and their effects to the academic performance for grade 8 and 9 students.
Research question and hypothesis
RQ: Is there a positive relationship between cyberbullying and school bullying for experimental school and control school for girls aged 13-14 years and how they influence academic performance?
Ho1: There is no significant positive relationship between cyberbullying and school bullying for experimental school and control school for girls aged 13-14 years and how they influence academic performance.
Ha1: There is a significant positive relationship between cyberbullying and school bullying for experimental school and control school for girls aged 13-14 years and how they influence academic performance.
According to the research question cyberbullying and school bullying are dependent variables while academic performance will be an independent variable.
Research Design
A quasi-experimental design will be used for this study. This is because the research project entails the control and treatment group. For the control group, the sample of the students will be extracted and will not be exposed to cyberbullying but for the treatment groups, the selected sample will be exposed to the cyberbullying. Therefore, considering the nature of the information that will be required and types of the samples that will be needed, the quasi-experimental design is most appropriate and specifically when control and treatment experiments are carried out (Aussems, Boomsma & Snijders, 2011).
Target Population and Sample
In the study, will include only girls students aged 13 -14 years selected from both public school and private schools. There will be a total sample size of 100 students with 50 from public school and 50 from the private school. To be considered to be part of the sample, students must allow for the incubation for three months, must have an email address and Facebook accounts.

Impact of social media on student’s performance
Rodriquez Mitchell
Northcentral University
Introduction
In my selection of an article which fits the assignment criteria I zeroed down to a peer-reviewed article entitled “Impact of social media on student’s performance”. The article was authored in 2013 by Sara Selvaraj of Vels University. This work posits to explain the issue being addressed in the research article, the purpose of the work, provide a summary of the research questions therein, describe both the null and alternative hypothesis used by the author, show application of the conceptual framework, and discuss the methodology used and the limitation of the article.
Describe the problem or issue addressed.
The main issue addressed in the article is the consequences of students using social networking platforms. This means the impact that social networking has on the education system. As evident from the literature part of the work social networking sites are not meant to have a negative effect on the education system. However, it has turned out that there is an array of negative effects of using social networking sites by students. One of these problems is prompted by social networking site addiction. Students with access to the internet and have social media networking sites accounts spend a significant time of their day on these sites. The impact of that is the students are left with little or no time for their personal studies hence cannot submit things like assignments in a timely fashion (Selvaraj, 2013). Secondly, the students are poised to fail their examinations or experience a decline in their academic scores. The article attempts to show the severity of this problem and provide proof that indeed the problems exist.
Describe the purpose or intent of the study.
The article has 3 main objectives or intents. The first objective is to determine the influence of various social networking sites on student’s academic performance. Young children or generation is one of the most affected by social networking sites. The study tries to investigate the difference between the performance of the students before starting to use the sites and the performance after starting to use the sites. The second objective of the study is to investigate how the education system in totality has been impacted by social networking sites. This objective arises from the knowledge that not only student use the sites. The websites are used nearly by everyone in the sector irrespective of age, position and professional. This use must have an effect and it’s this impact that the work tries to unravel. The third objective of the study is to determine the motivation behind the use of social networking sites. These are the uses which are prompting individuals to sign up of social media accounts. The work also tries to discover the uses of the si.

1. What is your research question? My research question for this study is, what is the relationship between peer pressure and underage drinking?
2. at is your hypothesis or hypotheses? What is the null hypothesis? There is a positive correlation between peer pressure and underage drinking. My null hypothesis is There is no correlation between peer pressure and underage drinking.
3. How many participants would you like to use and why? What are the inclusion characteristics, i.e., what must they have in order to be included in your study (for example, gender, diagnosis, age, personality traits, etc.)? Are there any exclusion characteristics, i.e. are there certain characteristics that would exclude them from being in your study? Does the sample need to be diverse? Why or why not? For this study I think I would use about 200 students from 4 different schools in the same general area. I would get 25 students from each school, my inclusion characteristics would be female and male students ages 10-20, different social groups, grades levels, and those who have had an alcoholic drink. Some Exclusion characteristics would be kids who are too old, homeschooled, or have never had a drink. The sample for this study needs to be diverse because I don’t believe one could get an accurate reading and or estimation of which students are under the influence and which aren’t without a large population of samples. The samples do not need to be completely diverse however because I am still looking for a certain type of person in a limited group.
4. What sampling technique will be used to collect your sample? What population does your sample generalize to? The sampling technique which will be used to collect my sample isconvenience sampling. Convenience sampling is a non-probability statistical method of drawingrepresentativedata by selecting people because of the ease of their volunteering or selecting units because of their availability or easy access. Convenience sampling is limited when generalizing. Since the sample is not representative of the population, the results of the study cannot speak for the entire population. This results to a low external validity of the study.
5. What are the variables in your study? The two variables in my study are peer pressure and underage drinking.
6. Provide operational definitions for each variable.
Peer pressure is the influence you feel from a person or group of people to do something you might not otherwise consider doing. Peer pressure isn’t always a negative thing. It can be a positive influence and help challenge or motivate you to do your best. However, it’s helpful to recognize that peer pressure can also be negative. It can result in yo.

4. Introduction:
Face book now a day’s became a global phenomenon. It provides several features for its users
such as chatting, sharing news, update status and wall posts among others so that one can keep in
touch with the family, friends and world happenings. Face book has become a popular and
preferred tool of communication among the students also. They use the site for passing time, to
maintain old ties, entertainment and social interactions. Social networking sites took an
indispensable part in daily life and they provide a lot of advantages to college and university
students not only their social life but also for their carriers. Although benefits and advantages of
social networking sites like face book are noted, problems caused by heavy usage of social
networking sites are not forgotten. At this point it can be seen that university and college
students stay a crucial and dangerous position in terms of face book addiction. However increase
of psychological and addiction problems caused heavy usage of face book leads to
educationalists and psychiatrists to worry about negative effects of face book on public health.
Researchproposal:
It is as follows:
Objectives:
5. What are the Face book usage reasons of participants?
What are the Face book addiction levels of participants?
What kind of relations are there between Face book addiction levels and Face book
operating times of participants?
What kind of profile do non-addicts have differently from addicts?
Scope:
The scope will remain within the city of Islamabad and students from different universities and
colleges of Islamabad.
Importance:
Face book has started to take an important part of people’s daily life as a result of developments
in communication technologies. Nowadays so many scholars from communication studies accept
face book as a mass communication media that provides people to reach so much kind of
information and also it provides people to communicate with their social contacts. However
beside its benefits to social and personal life of users, it is undeniably true that Face book has
Some negative effects for its users because of heavy and aimless usage. Definitely the most
Important of these problems is Face book mania.
Researchhypothesis:
Face book addiction make teenagers experience problems and erosions in their social life and
relations.

be from comsats(Male=23,Female=22), 13 from F62model college Islamabad in which all will
be females, 11 females only from F.G college for women f72 and 7 will be from Air
University(female=4,Male=3). These proportions are set according to their strength.
Summary of the questionnaires:
The questionnaire consists of open ended and closed ended questions
The total number of questions are 15
Time taken to solve it, will be 5 to 10 minutes
Constraints:
Time and financial constraint may arise in it.
Analytical Framework:
After data has been entered, it can be analyzed using descriptive statistics. Descriptive statistics
are commonly used for summarizing data frequency. Frequency analysis is a descriptive
statistical method that shows the number of occurrences of each response chosen by the
respondents. When conducting survey analysis, cross tabulation are appropriate for analyzing the
relationship between two or more variables.
I will analyze my data by applying frequency analysis on some questions and will also use cross
tabulations to find out the relationships between different variables and in order to attain the
objectives.
8. Firstly I will check the frequency analysis of gender then age and so on and will also analyze
different questions by cross tabulations. Questions may include how often do you log on to face
book, time spent on face book etc. These questions are just for example. I will include all those
questions which will helpful for me in achieving my objectives.

29. We can also interpret it by following manner.
It was seen that face book addiction of participants differentiate according to their face book
usage patterns and purposes. These results depicts that how they are spoiling their friend and
family relationships as not giving them their proper and quality time due to their indulgence in
purpose less activities on face book.
Conclusion:
The manipulation of data reveals that the objectives of my survey have been achieved. As we can
see that the face book usage reasons of most of the participants (23.7%) are to forward pictures,
quotes videos, posting notes or update status. The addiction level of face book usage is very high
among the participants. As majority of the participants (65.8%) said that they log on to face book
every day. There is a close relationship between participants face book addiction level and their
operating times. They used to be on face book over two hours each time they access the site. As
majority of the participants of the survey showed their face book addiction level so we cannot
30. predict the profile for the non addicts. Teenagers now days face a lot of problems in their social
relations because they spend most of their important and useful time in unnecessary activities
and in spite of discussing and spending time with their parents / elders to solve and help / guide
in resolving problems being so experienced, which is creating generation gap / space.
Recommendations:
Face book addiction in particular should be concentrated
Be careful of the race to have as many friends as possible
A well said by someone “excess of everything is bad", fits here
Set a predetermined amount of time allowed for face book
Limit the number of automatic feeds and status update you receive
Indulge in some other activity that you like
