when visiting the site, i experience 3 continious but defferent perpectual ex-
perience form the site, the three different part of the site gave me different
feeling from raw texture, materials and site context.
Based on these different perceptual experience, i studied different character-
istic of the site, activities on the original site to translate into architectural
space for a community swimming center.
The purpose of this community swimming center is to bring families together
during the weekend, relaxing and embrace the natural landscape .

“mangrove”: located at the south site of the
micosite, this part of the site is full of
vegetation, the trees block the view from the
south to provide perfect privacy and shades
for people to picnic and rest under the trees.
“The beach ”: located at the north site of the micro-
site, locals like to camp and picnic here because it
has a great view towards the beach of tanjung batu
4,and they can enjoy sunset along with the
boundless sea.
“Man made beach” : located at the tip of the mi-
crosite, facing west and has a small man made
beach with short bricks wall. The beach is de-
signed for kids to have a safe place to enjoy and
have fun.
TYPOLOGY
The spinal typology leads people
to their destination with direct
views and there will be open
spaces for people to rest at the in-
teraction point of different spaces.
EMBRACE THE NATURE
The outer layer of the building is
open up to the site for users to fully
experience the nature. Meanwhile
the inner part act as a gahtering
space to encourage interaction be-
tween users by blocking the views.
SPATIAL HIERARCHY
Arrange the space function based
on the soft/hardscape of the site,
using mangroves to create a more
private, intimate space for users,
meanwhile the openness of the
beach create a relatively public
space.
CLIMATIC RESPONSE
Prevailing wind blow from west to
east consistantly through out the
year, the structure ulitizing this as
passive ventilation system by ele-
vating the building to create
spaces for the wind to blow thru.
The elevated platform and vegeta-
tion shade users from sunlight.
VISUAL PERMEABILITY
Creating openings on the brick
wall will create a sense of privacy
but maintain the visual permeabili-
ty and decrease visual weight for
the users at the meantime.
