oneFinal idea
General infoThis idea was chosen to be developed because it was the one that occurred to several members of the group so we thought it’s worth looking into it and if we combined our similar ideas we would be able to produce a stronger one.My initial idea was “The Loner” (described earlier on in the blog) was adopted to incorporate other elements and transformed into the group idea.
plotFirst thing we decided to change is the time of the character waking up. If she wakes up in the morning rather than during the day it is then more strongly implied that there should be people around.
Secondly we thought that apart from little indicators of human presence there should be a more major one, a climax, which the sequence is built towards. This indicator should also be very clear meaning that if all other ones can be interpreted in various ways then the main indicator should be very clear, we decided it to be a baby going missing from the cot. endingThis is the part of the sequence that undergone most discussion. We initially wanted something really major so we had to figure out how to get the most effect. These are the endings we were considering. An indoor shot showing the door being locked from the inside.
Outside shot with cars being left on the street and engines on and house doors being open as well. Although this ending is far more desirable we realised that it will involve much more planning and negotiation with other people outside the school.Location researchWe also had to consider several locations as it was pretty much impossible to build desired setting in the studio. Places considered were:Houses of day students nearby.
Staff homes nearby.
Boarding houses such as Ewhurst Place and its’ drive. In the end we decided that the perfect location can only be constructed from several places.

castingThe fact thatwe were only aiming to get 1 actor in made our lives a whole lot easier. We started to look into AS drama lists in order to find a girl, who not only will be available for the shoot day (not have any resit examinations) and also will be able to act so the fear and nervousness in the sequence would look more realistic.

What’s nextAlthough thisis the initial information for the Final Pitch, we still have a lot of things to do,these include:Finalising Location Choices
  • 10.
  • 11.
    Getting a PropsList together
  • 12.
Developing a concisestoryboard, which would take an account of the location choices made
  • 13.
Making a shootschedule as the involvement of several locations will give us less time to spare.
