IDEA/FILM SCRIPT
Making a film takes time and preparation. But all films start
with a moment of inspiration.
Inspiration is everywhere, in books, magazines, newspapers and
everywhere around you.
SCRIPT WRITING & SCRIPT LOCKING
The writer makes a synopsis and he/she has to lock the script so
that no other person can use the same script.
STORYBOARD
Telling a story is easy, but making a film out of it needs a lot of
hard work.
FUNDING/PRODUCERS
The next stage in the development of the project is to turn the idea into a
final script ready for production, but this costs money. To get the money the
producer has to be made to believe that the script will work well. The writer has to
use persuade to get the money for the development of the script.
CAST & CREW
Decide whom to cast in the film. Have a talk with the actors, actresses,
musician, choreographers, editors. Decide the technicians whom you want to work
with.
LOCATION
Decide according to the need of the script the location where you have to
shoot. Locations may include nearby areas, within a country or even foreign
location.
SCHEDULING & CALL SHEETS
After the funding has been finalized, prepare a proper schedule for
specific shoot. Ask the actors for their call sheets and have a shoot accordingly or
vice versa.
WORKSHOPS
This process is not mandatory. This may vary from movie to movie.
Some movies may require the actors to be perfect in some skills like sword
fighting, horse riding, running. If it is a biopic then it must be necessary to know
about the person on whom the movie is made.
COPYRIGHTS
This process is not mandatory. This may vary from movie to movie.
If the script on which the movie is being made is based on some book, person
(dead or alive), news or some really life incident, then copyright is a must.
PRODUCTION
All the shooting required for the final film are done.
This includes acting, dancing, fighting and green room shooting.
Making videos are recorded at this time.

POST PRODUCTION
The post-production work starts as soon as the first raw footage is available.
DUBBING
During the shoot the actors deliver their dialogues, but due to some external factors sometimes their
voice may not be audible.
So they voice their dialogues again in the dubbing room.
Most of the times actors dub for their own voice and in some cases other dubbing artists dub for
them.
VISUAL EFFECTS (VFX)
These days many movies are being made which have lot of vfx scenes. Vfx shots are preferred
mainly because it reduces the production cost.
Mostly the scenes which involve vfx are shot in green screen rooms.
SONGS/BGM
The songs in the movies are an integral part of Indian cinemas.
Very few films have been made in India which have no songs in it.
Whenever there is an entry scene of antagonist, protagonist or even in a fight sequence background
music is played to make the visual larger than life.
EDITING
After all the dubbing, vfx and music part is done, the editor’s job begins.
The producer, director and the editor sit together in the editing room for making changes in the
film.
AUDIO LAUNCH/TRAILER LAUNCH EVENTS
The songs of the movie are released like a grand functions. The big budget films release
it in a grand manner and small budget films directly release theirs directly online.
PROMOTIONS
These days a lot of money is being used just for the promotion of the movie. First the
motion poster is released, then the teaser is released, then the songs and few weeks before the
release the trailer of the movie is released.
Many contests are conducted as part of the movie promotions. Actors go to many TV shows (dance
shows, reality shows, talent shows, etc). Merchandise related to the movie are also made and sold.
FILM CERTIFICATION
After all the editing is done and final print of the movie is made, it is
sent to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for certification.
SCREEN BOOKING
The producers distribute the movie to the distributors who in turn give
it to theatre owners who are ready to screen the movie in their theatres.
RELEASE
The films are released on the specified date.
