Paramount Pictures is one of the largest film studios and a subsidiary of Viacom known for distributing popular franchises like Transformers, Star Trek, and Friday the 13th. Lionsgate began in Vancouver as an independent film studio and is now the most successful independent film distributor in North America, known for films like American Psycho, Saw, and The Hunger Games franchise. It acquired Summit Entertainment in 2012, the studio behind the Twilight films.
