The circumstances surrounding the Fiery Star were rather eerie.
On the 19th of April 1865, the cargo of wool on the Fiery Star
burst into flames south of Cuvier Island. After four days, the
Captain and 78 passengers took to lifeboats.
THEY WERE NEVER SEEN AGAIN.
The Chief Officer and 17 crew members battled the fire on board
for three weeks until they were rescued 24 kilometers from the
Corormandel Coast. Half an hour later, the ship sunk.
