FIELD ASSIGNMENTTHE WORLD AROUND USBy Jason Caceda
TRANSFORMATIONBefore this air station came along this area was just sand and dried cracked dirt. These trees have grown from seeds and transformed this once barren land into a wonderful habitat. The types of animals you can find here are insects, rabbits, ground squirrels, ground owls and other animals.
DOMESTIC ANIMALSOn my outing I encountered artiodactylaor sheep. These animals have evolved from the artiodactyl, fossils of this animal have been discovered in Pakistan in the “lower eocene strata” (528). These animals are important to us because they provide us with wool.
Mud CrackThis is a contemporary mud crack caused by the sun drying up the moisture in the ground. This can be used as an indicator that rock sediments with dried mud in the have been exposed to air or the sun.
WATER EROSION AND LAYERINGHere I discovered this wall of what looks like sediment. It is layered with different colors and surrounded by growth but it looks like there was a tremendous amount of erosion from the current of the stream when the river was higher. When the river lowered the sediment become eroded by the environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL EROSIONHere I found a bank that looks like it was weathered by a mixture of rain, wind, sun and animals. Maybe plants roots may have caused some of the erosion as well. This is a good habitat for ground squirrels, snakes insects and more vegetation.
