The client needed to move the grooming suite to a new and larger space; they
requested for an upgrade to their existing suite.
They wanted a space where they could teach the ever growing number of flight
attendants the airline approved make up application and dress themselves in way that
is uniform with their peers. The suite would be primarily used to teach apply make up
and fix their uniforms as per the standards of the company.
I worked on various floor plan options for the suite and the office space. Provided
basic design drawings for the various elements and created 3d views for the suite. On
approval, I reviewed the samples and prototypes submitted by the contractor.

When I joined the project, the Qatar Airways Singapore Premium Lounge had already begun its
development. As part of my role, I had the opportunity to refine and enhance various elements of the
lounge, ensuring that it aligned with the vision of luxury, style, and sophistication that Qatar Airways
wanted to deliver to its First and Business Class passengers.
One significant contribution I made to the project was the creation of the entire 3D model library for the
lounge and all its elements. This involved meticulously designing and rendering each aspect of the lounge,
from the furniture and decor to the lighting and architectural features. The 3D models provided a realistic
representation of the lounge, allowing the team to visualize and make informed decisions about the space.
The Qatar Airways Singapore Premium Lounge, located at the heart of Changi Airport, spans over 700
square meters and is meticulously designed to offer a luxurious environment for passengers to relax and
unwind in utmost comfort. As soon as passengers step into the lounge, they are greeted by an atmosphere
of tranquility and calmness, providing a stark contrast to the bustling airport environment. The lounge

Qatar Airways’ First and Business Class
passengers, setting a new standard for
outstation premium lounges.
16. 16
With the continuous increase in the number of passengers,
the airlines recognized the need for an outstation lounge that
would cater specifically to its premium passengers. The goal
was to create a lounge that would embody the signature look
and feel of the outstation lounges in Singapore, ensuring a
consistent and exceptional experience for passengers.
However, there was a unique challenge to overcome in this
particular project. The location chosen for the lounge did not
allow for a separate ceiling to be constructed exclusively for
the premium lounge area. This presented a design obstacle
that required innovative thinking and careful consideration.
To address this challenge, our team diligently worked on
exploring different design options that would take into
account the acoustic requirements of the space while
still maintaining the desired open ceiling concept. We
understood the importance of creating a tranquil and
sophisticated atmosphere within the lounge, free from
external noise disturbances.
Through thoughtful collaboration and expertise, we
developed design solutions that effectively integrated
acoustic elements without compromising the open ceiling
aesthetic. This involved incorporating sound-absorbing
materials strategically throughout the lounge, such as
acoustic panels, baffles, and wall treatments. These elements
not only enhanced the acoustic performance of the space but
also added a touch of elegance to the overall design.
By carefully balancing the acoustic considerations with
the desired open ceiling concept, we were able to create
a space that exuded luxury, style, and sophistication while
still meeting the functional requirements of the lounge.
The result was a seamless integration of design elements
that not only satisfied the airlines’ vision but also provided
a comfortable and immersive experience for premium
passengers.
In conclusion, despite the challenges posed by the limitations
of the location, our team successfully navigated the design

process to create an outstation lounge that harmoniously blended the signature look of Singapore’s lounges with the practical
considerations of the space. The innovative design solutions implemented ensured optimal acoustics while preserving the desired
open ceiling concept, resulting in a remarkable space that exceeded the expectations of the airlines and provided a haven of luxury
for their premium passengers.
18. 18
Our objective was to design a premium check-in space that
would cater to the needs of the airline’s esteemed premium
passengers. This space needed to encompass comfortable
seating areas for passengers while also accommodating the
necessary back-of-house facilities for staff to efficiently carry
out their duties.
One crucial aspect to consider was the presence of a
dedicated host at the entrance of the premium check-in
area. The host would warmly welcome guests, ensuring a
personalized and seamless check-in experience from the
moment they arrived. The staff would promptly collect the
necessary information from the guests, allowing for a swift
and efficient check-in process.
To streamline the luggage handling process, a designated
staff member would be responsible for transferring the
guests’ luggage to the main luggage area. This ensured that
guests could proceed with their check-in without the burden
of managing their bags. The staff entrance at the back
provided a convenient and discreet access point for staff
members to perform their duties effectively.
In addition to the check-in process, we recognized the
importance of providing a high level of service and comfort
to the premium passengers. To enhance their experience,
staff members would be available to offer a selection of
snacks and drinks, catering to their preferences and ensuring
their satisfaction during their time in the premium check-in
space.
By carefully considering the needs of both guests and
staff, we created a premium check-in space that seamlessly
integrated functionality and hospitality. The design allowed
for efficient operations behind the scenes while offering
a welcoming and comfortable environment for premium
passengers. This holistic approach aimed to exceed
the expectations of guests and reinforce the airline’s
commitment to providing exceptional service.

included (1) lack of reception space or way finding, (2) unused breakout room upstairs and (3)
bad acoustic balance in the open plan office with untreated exposed ceiling. Maersk did not want
reception desk because it would have blocked the emergency routes. The breakout room upstairs
was not used much perhaps due to facing the often used conference room with glass walls that

The Project revolves around the establishment of an oncology clinic
specifically designed to cater to the needs of cancer patients. The clinic
is operated by two doctors who are supported by a dedicated team
consisting of a receptionist/secretary, a medical technician, and a part-
time bookkeeper responsible for handling billing and other business
functions. Additionally, the clinic employs two nurses and a janitor to
ensure smooth operations and a clean environment.
The primary focus of the clinic is to provide specialized care to
outpatients seeking chemotherapy, regular examinations, and
radiotherapies. Understanding the unique challenges faced by cancer
patients, the clinic aims to create a space that is warm, friendly, and
reminiscent of a comforting home environment. The goal is to alleviate
any feelings of hostility or anxiety that patients may have, even when
they visit the clinic alone.
To achieve these objectives, my design solution revolves around the
concept of light and shadow, as well as the metaphor of waves. I have
carefully considered the interplay of positive and negative spaces,
creating a sense of harmony and tranquility within the clinic. The walls
are adorned in muted colors, while the ceiling features wooden beams
that serve as both wayfinders and tactile elements, adding a friendly and
inviting touch to the space.
I have deliberately avoided using bright colors and busy patterns, as
these can cause fatigue and discomfort to patients. Instead, the design
is approachable and sensitive to the needs of the clients and users of
the space. By incorporating elements that promote a sense of warmth,
comfort, and familiarity, the clinic aims to create an environment that
supports the well-being and healing process of its patients.

Reception Desk
The reception desk at the oncology clinic is thoughtfully designed to incorporate the concept of
waves, symbolizing the fluidity and soothing nature of the environment. It is crafted using high-
quality materials such as white corian and a sleek glass top. The glass front, positioned on the
upper part of the desk, adds an elegant touch while maintaining transparency.
To prioritize safety and comfort, special attention has been given to the design details. The glass
edges on the top of the reception desk are all rounded, eliminating any sharp corners that could
potentially cause harm or injury to users. This careful consideration ensures a welcoming and
secure experience for both patients and staff.
In addition to its aesthetic appeal and user-friendly features, the reception desk adheres to the
standard measurements set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This ensures accessibility
for individuals with diverse mobility needs, promoting inclusivity and convenience within the clinic.
In summary, the goal of the oncology clinic project is to design a space that provides a warm and
comfortable environment for cancer patients. My design solution focuses on the interplay of light

Lucky Strike Building - Office Design
Based on the provided program requirements and extensive research data, our
objective was to create a dynamic, innovative, and pragmatic solution tailored
specifically for a software company specializing in shareware applications. Our
focus was on designing a space that supports flexible work styles, fosters a relaxed
atmosphere, and encourages collaboration among developers, while still allowing for
individual work. To achieve this, we incorporated our own ideas along with research
on contemporary work environments, technological advancements, and evolving
work styles.
The proposed space for this software company is located in the Lucky Strike building
at 2600 Cary Street in downtown Richmond, Virginia, USA. As the sole occupant
of the space, the client had unique needs and preferences that guided our design
process. The floor plan presented two methods of fire egress, ensuring safety and
compliance with building codes. Additionally, the presence of four large skylights on
the roof offered ample natural light, contributing to a vibrant and energizing work
environment.
While working within the existing constraints of the space, including the presence
of four columns, a mezzanine level, ADA-compliant restrooms, and a major load-
bearing wall, our design aimed to optimize functionality and efficiency. We respected
the limitations of these elements, understanding that they could not be demolished
or relocated. By creatively integrating them into the overall design, we ensured a
seamless and harmonious layout that maximized the available space.
Our design approach took into consideration the changing nature of work and the
specific requirements of a software development company. We prioritized flexible
workstations, collaborative areas, and breakout spaces that catered to the diverse
needs of the developers. Through careful consideration of furniture, technology
integration, and spatial planning, we created an environment that fostered
productivity, creativity, and a sense of community.
