An art-house theater with a lively atmosphere and
a vibrant mix of contemporary décor, and retro flair,
Landmark Theatre offers an intimate, comfortable
and sophisticated cinema experience and adds a
compelling entertainment component to the larger
Harbor East development. The cinema, which features
stadium seating throughout, has eight screens and
can accommodate up to 1,200 moviegoers. Materials
like exposed brick, wood paneling, brushed metal and
colorful fabrics give Landmark Theatre a warm and
inviting feel, while feature walls with changing artwork
and murals contribute context, depth and texture.
Granite countertops and suede front panels distinguish
the concessions area, which includes a fully equipped
coffee bar with beer and wine service.

iPic is redefining the cinema-going experience as
an exercise in true luxury. The iPic high-end theater
concept integrates five-star dining with a premier
service-oriented movie-going experience that includes
everything from online seat selection and valet parking,
to dining and cocktail service inside the theater
auditorium. The on-site restaurant and bar enables
cinema-goers to enjoy a meal before the show, or enjoy
seat-side dining during the film. The flexible iPic designs
take inspiration from their surroundings and can be
modified to fit into virtually any mixed-use venue. While
layouts change from one theater to the next, the core
conceptual and experiential elements that define the
iPic Entertainment Concept remain consistent.

Menlyn Entertainment, the groundbreaking entertain-
ment component of the larger Menlyn Park complex,
features a multi-purpose amphitheater, a rooftop drive-
in cinema, a themed Grand Hall, an IMAX theater, and a
bowling arcade, in addition to more familiar dining and
mall-based theater options. Menlyn Events, inspired by
Roman amphitheaters, provides a venue for activities
ranging from concert performances to sporting events.
The festive theming carries over into the Grand Hall, a
central atrium space inside the mall with suspended met-
al frameworks for trapeze artists, hanging banners and
performances. The parking deck design transforms the
top level of the garage into a drive-in movie theater; ad-
jacent to a 16-screen cinema. Menlyn Events transforms
Menlyn Park into an extraordinarily dynamic venue.

Forallitsvisualintensity,twokeyfeaturessetthe(loud)tonefor
the Zone@Rosebank, a bold, high-tech urban entertainment
centerinJohannesburg’sRosebanksuburb.Oneisthegraphic
power of an electrified streetscape, which takes advantage
of Rosebank’s enviable corner location at the intersection of
Oxford Road, a major municipal artery, and Tyrwhitt Avenue, a
popular pedestrian street. Rosebank engages the street, with
the exterior chiefly serving as a medium for the contemporary
graphicdesignexpressionsofitstenants,whichincludeupscale
boutiques, high-tech arcades, internet cafés and themed
restaurants,departmentstoreand14-screenmultiplexcinema.
Rather than leave these designs to chance, we worked with
tenants to create high-energy, studio-like design identities.
The studio environment also carries to interior mall and court
areas, with prominent tenant merchandising and promotions.

Conjuring echoes of the grand movie palaces of the early
20th Century, Muvico Rosemont 18 combines the stately
grandeur of a bygone era with a contemporary cinema
experience. The 4,227-seat theater – boasts elegant
detailing and amenities that include a second-story VIP
lounge with tapas-style restaurant and bar, an arcade
and children’s party rooms. A double-height lobby with
views to the lounge above features velvet curtains with
bullion fringe, gilded moldings, rich woodwork, ornate
chandeliers, filigreed ceiling ornamentation and coffered
ceilings with theatrical lighting. A 70-ft tall dramatic
Muvico Grand Marquis is visible from the adjacent
highway, a large drop-off area under the canopy of a 40-
ft wide port cochère sits beneath an 85-foot tall façade,
built to convey the rich past of the former existing theater.

Themed as an ancient Egyptian temple, this 85,000
SF (7,900 SM) theater will seat over 4,000 patrons.
The cinema features a north wing reminiscent of the
sandy, desert-oriented upper Nile, and a southern
wing themed as the more lush delta plain. Ramses
statues guard the concession stand, found at the end
of an outdoor/indoor mosaic of the Nile River, while
movie-goers are directed to one of the historically
named screening rooms. A children’s playroom and
video arcade complete the fantasy cinema experience.
Muvico “Paradise 24” opened in March 1999 to record
crowds and has shot to prominence as each weekend it
ranks in the top five grossing theaters per capita in the
United States.

An art-house theater with a lively atmosphere and a vibrant mix of contemporary décor, and retro flair, Landmark Theatre offers an intimate, comfortable and sophisticated cinema experience and adds a compelling entertainment component to the larger Harbor East development. The cinema, which features stadium seating throughout, has eight screens and can accommodate up to 1,200 moviegoers. Materials like exposed brick, wood paneling, brushed metal and colorful fabrics give Landmark Theatre a warm and inviting feel, while feature walls with changing artwork and murals contribute context, depth and texture. Granite countertops and suede front panels distinguish the concessions area, which includes a fully equipped coffee bar with beer and wine service.

The on-site restaurant and bar enables cinema-goers to enjoy a meal before the show, or enjoy seat-side dining during the film. The flexible iPic designs take inspiration from their surroundings and can be modified to fit into virtually any mixed-use venue. While layouts change from one theater to the next, the core conceptual and experiential elements that define the iPic Entertainment Concept remain consistent. Menlyn Entertainment, the groundbreaking entertain- ment component of the larger Menlyn Park complex, features a multi-purpose amphitheater, a rooftop drive- in cinema, a themed Grand Hall, an IMAX theater, and a bowling arcade, in addition to more familiar dining and mall-based theater options. Menlyn Events, inspired by Roman amphitheaters, provides a venue for activities ranging from concert performances to sporting events. The festive theming carries over into the Grand Hall, a central atrium space inside the mall with suspended met- al frameworks for trapeze artists, hanging banners and performances. The parking deck design transforms the top level of the garage into a drive-in movie theater; ad- jacent to a 16-screen cinema. Menlyn Events transforms Menlyn Park into an extraordinarily dynamic venue.

Forallitsvisualintensity,twokeyfeaturessetthe(loud)tonefor the Zone@Rosebank, a bold, high-tech urban entertainment centerinJohannesburg’sRosebanksuburb.Oneisthegraphic power of an electrified streetscape, which takes advantage of Rosebank’s enviable corner location at the intersection of Oxford Road, a major municipal artery, and Tyrwhitt Avenue, a popular pedestrian street. Rosebank engages the street, with the exterior chiefly serving as a medium for the contemporary graphicdesignexpressionsofitstenants,whichincludeupscale boutiques, high-tech arcades, internet cafés and themed restaurants,departmentstoreand14-screenmultiplexcinema. Rather than leave these designs to chance, we worked with tenants to create high-energy, studio-like design identities. Conjuring echoes of the grand movie palaces of the early 20th Century, Muvico Rosemont 18 combines the stately grandeur of a bygone era with a contemporary cinema experience. The 4,227-seat theater – boasts elegant detailing and amenities that include a second-story VIP lounge with tapas-style restaurant and bar, an arcade and children’s party rooms. A double-height lobby with views to the lounge above features velvet curtains with bullion fringe, gilded moldings, rich woodwork, ornate chandeliers, filigreed ceiling ornamentation and coffered ceilings with theatrical lighting. A 70-ft tall dramatic Muvico Grand Marquis is visible from the adjacent highway, a large drop-off area under the canopy of a 40- ft wide port cochère sits beneath an 85-foot tall façade, built to convey the rich past of the former existing theater.

The cinema features a north wing reminiscent of the sandy, desert-oriented upper Nile, and a southern wing themed as the more lush delta plain. Ramses statues guard the concession stand, found at the end of an outdoor/indoor mosaic of the Nile River, while movie-goers are directed to one of the historically named screening rooms. A children’s playroom and video arcade complete the fantasy cinema experience. Muvico “Paradise 24” opened in March 1999 to record crowds and has shot to prominence as each weekend it ranks in the top five grossing theaters per capita in the United States.
