2. It consist of :
•Ovary
•Oviducts or fallopian tube
•Uterus
•External Geneitilia
•Placenta
•Cervix
•Vagina
•Urethra
3. •OVARY: The ovary is an organ found in the
female reproductive system that produces an
ovum or egg.
•Oviducts or fallopian tube: the tube through which
an ovum or egg passes from an ovary.
4. •Uterus:
• The uterus is a hollow muscular organ located in the female
pelvis between the bladder and rectum. The ovaries
produce the eggs that travel through the fallopian tubes.
Once the egg has left the ovary it can be fertilized and
implant itself in the lining of the uterus.
•EXTERNAL GENITILIA: it is called as
1)Vulva 2)Libia minora 3)Libia majora
The external female genitalia (vulva) include: The opening of
the vagina (also called the birth canal). The vagina is part of
the reproductive tract and extends from the womb (uterus) to
outside the body.
5. •Placenta: The placenta is an organ that develops in uterus during
pregnancy. This structure provides oxygen and nutrients to
growing baby and removes waste products from baby's blood.
The placenta attaches to the wall of uterus.
•CERVIX: (Originated from word cervical meaning neck) The cervix
is the lower portion of the uterus, an organ of the female
reproductive tract. It connects the vagina with the main body of
the uterus, acting as a gateway between them.)
•VAGINA: the muscular tube leading from the external genitals
to the cervix of the uterus in women and most female mammals.
7. •URETHRA: The tube through which urine leaves the
body. It empties urine from the bladder.
OOGENESIS
•OVULATION: The process in which ovary
releases single egg in the abdominal cavity.
8. • OVARY produces
•
• many Oogonia (mother cell of egg)
• through mitosis
• Primary oocyte enclosed in follicles
• divide meiotically
• Secondary oocyte + first polar body
•
• incomplete meiosis till metaphase and only
completes when egg get fertilized with sperm
•
10. Then ovum or egg is delivered to uterus through Fallopian tube.
In Uterus fertilization takes place if there is already any sperm
waiting for egg.
The fertilized egg then implants in the uterus tissue forming
PLACENTA and become to grow and develop.
The placenta is established b/w the uterine wall and fetous
tissues for:
Exchange of gases like CO2, O2
Exchange of waste from fetous into mother’s blood
Getting food from mother’s body
Uterus opens into vagina through cervix.
In females Urethera and Vagina are two different openings while
in male penis is the urogenital opening.
