During my class in Curriculum, Methods, and Assessments: Science and Math, I have had the
opportunity to observe two different mathematic teachers. Through those observations I have

Previous research on apologies targeted adults, so there is not much known on how children view

Conferences by Keri Franklin describes Franklin s experience during a training session with a
cooperative learning expert. During the article, Franklin explained how she realized that her
workshop sessions were not going as well as she thought they were going and how she wanted
to improve her sessions. It was only within reading the first few sentences that I realized that this
was a great article for me to read while I lead this workshop for this semester. Unfortunately, not
unlike Franklin, my workshop had not been going well. I needed to help students identify
appropriate behaviors used in everyday social skills and used in effective peer conferences

Not only did I find a checklist for a successful workshop, I was also able to understand how I can
communicate with my students on a level that they are comfortable with. I was glad to know that
I was not the only one who struggled with knowing how to reach out to my students. I feel that
this article helped me find some great tips on how to have a conversation and gain the trust of my
students. As for the language barrier and the lack of proper writing knowledge that I may face in
my workshop, I am aware that it will be difficult, but I believe, with the help of this article, I can
succeed in helping these students become successful
