Brochure
Programs Used
InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
Description
I created a duplex brochure for a company that runs a
seasonal Haunted House.
Process
This was my favorite project. The hardest part was the planning process. I
sketched out ideas of how I wanted my layout organized and transferred
those ideas into InDesign for a sketchmap. I researched images that would be
appropriate for the design and edited them as necessary in Photoshop. I used
Illustrator to create the Logo. I really liked how the cover turned out using the
Photoshop brushes and a low opacity to create a blended affect of the skull
coming out of the shadows.
What I learned
The most important aspect I learned from this project is the ability to link your
Photoshop files to InDesign. I also was reminded of the importance of good
contrast. This will enhance your design tremendously and will allow your eyes to
be directed through the project.

Infographics
Programs Used
Illustrator
Description
This is an infographic that displays information and ideas to help
parents of children that are early readers.
Process
First I began by researching information regarding my topic. I wrote up
everything in a word document. I also researched typography of children’s
books and color schemes. I sketched a rough draft on paper and used it
heavily while transferring those ideas into Illustrator. I made vector images
using the pen tool and manipulating geometric shapes into designs to use
in the Infographic. I love how the transparent images of the books keep the
reader’s eyes moving down the Infographic.
What I learned
Shortcuts save so much time. It’s a vital tool set to memorize each of the
shortcuts to make the design process run smoother. Also, pictures speak
louder than words.

Website Mockup
Programs Used
Photoshop, Illustrator
Description
This was created for the mock business, Murdock Music.
Process
I started my process by sketching on paper three different designs. I made a
wireframe of those sketches in Photoshop using a grid used for structuring
websites. I used my logo from Murdock Music that I had created in Illustrator.
I optimized my photos for web then placed the images in the wireframe using
the clipping mask. I was very happy with the alignment in this piece.
What I learned
Organization in your files and images are very important. By grouping aspects
of the project and naming files in Photoshop this will make the design process
more organized. It’s very important to still maintain alignment and contrast in
your web designs.

Photodesign
Programs Used
Photoshop
Description
This is a photo taken in Winter to demonstrate my ability to use spot
metering in photography and photo editing in Photoshop.
Process
I used spot metering in order to achieve the faded background of the photo. I
edited the photo using levels, contrast and selective color to bring out some of
the beauty of the colors. I put an unsharp mask on the photo to make the spikes
of the weed more sharp. I used the selective color tool in order to bring out the
orange color in the weeds. I liked the repetitive swatches and thought it tied in
quite nice with the photo.
What I learned
I was able to learn to use the shapes of the elements in your photos and how
to incorporate those styles in to your design. I gained a better understanding
of how to use Photoshop to edit photos. I didn’t know so much editing went
into photographs in order to find that perfect balance of beauty.

Business Identity
Programs Used
Photoshop, Illustrator
Description
I created letterhead and business cards to represent Murdock Music. My
target audience was for musicians.
Process
I made multiple sketches revolving around music notations and took a
more simplistic but bold touch to the logo. I created outlines of the font to
manipulate some of the type to match musical notes. My favorite part of this
piece is the M that was manipulated into sixteenth notes. It’s very identifiable
for the nature of the business.
What I learned
I learned the use of repetition of styles and elements through out all the
pieces in creating a Business Identity. Typefaces need to be researched first
to make sure they can be used not only in the logo but also in the body copy.
Contrast is not only in size but in the use of color.

Web Design
Programs Used
Photoshop, Notepad ++, Chrome browser
Description
This is a website that I created to showcase the Logo for Murdock
Music from the Business Identity project.
Process
I resized the logo I created in Illustrator by scaling the image in Photoshop.
I added code to the HTML and CSS files to create the webpage. I used Font
Awesome, Google Fonts and Photoshop to attain the colors and added design
elements. The design element I enjoy the most in this piece is the small bullet
points that are notes. It adds a nice touch of repetition from the logo.
What I learned
The design principles still apply even though it’s a webpage. Padding and
margins make it possible to attain good alignment and consistency. It’s so
important to keep all your files for web design in the same folder so they can
connect to each other.

Prezi Presentation
Programs Used
Indesign, Photoshop, Prezi program site
Description
To make a professional presentation using Prezi.com
Process
I sketched out a few ideas on paper. I used InDesign in order to create the
background that I would export into the Prezi website. I ended up using a picture
of a paint splatter that I needed to change the color and used Photoshop to make
the edits. I did all my body copy and headers in the Prezi program.
What I learned
The biggest thing learned is when someone asks for simple it does not
necessarily mean boring. It takes a lot of thought to create and to make
something that will catch someone’s eye. Watching the spacing on the
descenders against image was also learned.

Magazine Cover
Programs Used
InDesign, Photoshop
Description
A magazine cover that features myself
Process
I started with doing research on magazine covers. I chose a picture to be
featured on the cover and used Photoshop to remove the rest of my family.
I used InDesign for the Magazine layout. I liked the font choices that were
chosen for this piece. I also think the flow of where your eyes are directed
works really well with how the articles were placed.
What I learned
This was my first experience with designing and I learned to be consistent. I
also learned to be sure to repeat elements to strengthen your message. Always
be mindful of white space when you’re placing elements on the page.
