Court awards attorney fees to This Is Reno in public records lawsuit against ...This Is Reno
Washoe County District Court Judge Kathleen Drakulich this week awarded costs and attorney fees to This Is Reno in its public records lawsuit against the Reno Police Department.
Last year, This Is Reno sued RPD for failing to follow Nevada public records laws. Drakulich partially agreed. She said RPD failed to respond to a number of This Is Reno’s public records orders within the time frame required by law – up to seven months in one case.
Drakulich, however, said RPD properly denied the release of documents relevant to open investigations. She also said RPD can continue to redact officer faces from body worn cameras, a practice This Is Reno attempted to challenge.
Body cam redaction policies are inconsistently applied in Nevada. Most other states in the country do not redact officer faces, a point the Reno city attorney said was irrelevant.
In Nevada, some law enforcement entities are redacting officer faces from videos. That includes the back of officer heads, in RPD’s case.
The reason for the redactions, according to the Reno city attorney: The law prohibits the release of an officer’s photograph to the public unless the officer gives permission for the release.

Week 1 Discussion 1 Strength Oriented Action
This week’s readings focus on the importance of the ‘culture shift’ that needs to take place in our communities in order to begin an asset building initiative. Using your critical thinking skills, respond to the following questions:
· What do the terms ‘strength message’ and ‘strength-oriented action’ mean?
· What evidence do you see of this concept played out in your local school or organizational setting?
· What about in your community?
· What do you see as the predominant role of adults in your community? Are they more focused on strength or risk and deficits? Do they provide relationships and programs, or just programs?
Include two or three specific actions that you consistently practice, or could immediately incorporate into your daily routine, to support a “strength-oriented action” culture. If you get stuck, you may want to refer to the “Ask Yourself These Questions First” on Tip Sheet #1 located in the required reading for the week.
Instructor Guidance
Week 1
Welcome to week 1 of EDU 635. In this week we begin our learning about communities and the youth that live and play in those communities. We will be looking at the communities and the culture of those communities, and looking at data about our communities to try to build a synopsis of what’s going on there. With all that, we are hoping to identify what role youth programs play in our community, and the roles that adults play in providing those programs.
In your introductions for the week, you will of course be telling us a little bit about yourself. I encourage you to use one of the digital tools listed as options. Later this week and in the future, you will be required to use certain digital tools to help present your messages. So, take the time now to experiment with the tools if you have not used them before. Be sure that you respond to at least three of your classmates’ introductions
The first discussion for this week is labeled “strength oriented action.” When we think about strengths, of course there is physical strength. But that’s not what we’re talking about here. In this discussion, you will be exploring the concept of a “strength message.” In particular, you will want to identify the strengths you see in your own community and in the adults that are providing programs of some sort to the youth of your community. You will also explore the concept of your community’s culture. There is a handy tip sheet listed in the required reading for the week. That will be really helpful for you.
In the second discussion for this week, we’re talking about assets or building blocks for the healthy development of young people in your community. It is really important that you read the required resources for this week to identify those 40 developmental assets. There are also some other resources listed to find information about your particular community, if you don’t already have that. In the discussion posts you should create a table tha ...

Week 3 Discussion 2 Tale of Two Cities and homelessness
This discussion is an opportunity to compare and contrast policies and resources that support homeless children and families from two different cities, New York and Chicago. The information you analyze will either support a recommendation you make to either city or an idea for potential application of supports elsewhere. Additionally, the graphic will be included as part of your Week Six Final Project Prepare for this discussion by reviewing the required resources listed below for each city and by reviewing the Week Three Instructor Guidance.
· Chicago Resources: Review the All Chicago (Links to an external site.) website, the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless (Links to an external site.)website, and the newspaper articles from Hirst (2013) (Links to an external site.) and Steinberg (2012) (Links to an external site.) about homelessness in Chicago.
· New York Resources: Review the Covenant House (Links to an external site.) website, the Safe Horizon (2014) homeless youth facts page (Links to an external site.), and the Saulny (2012) newspaper article about homeless youth in New York (Links to an external site.).
Initial Post: Review the resources provided above. Create an initial post that includes the two parts described below.
Visual: Use a visual graphic of your choice such as a Venn diagram or chart using PowerPoint, SmartArt features in Microsoft Word, or Thinking maps® to compare and contrast the following five factors pertaining to homelessness:
a. Statistical data about the prevalence of youth homelessness in New York and Chicago.
b. Statistical data regarding populations of homeless, including youth.
c. Types/levels of supports available including, but not limited to, shelters, community and school-based supports, etc.
d. The policies supporting homelessness in each state.
e. At least one other interesting statistic or learned information of your choice about homelessness.
Description: Along with the attachment of your graphic, describe in one to two paragraphs the information about homelessness in New York and Chicago that interested or surprised you. Discuss how the information enhanced what you already knew about homelessness. Additionally, describe your viewpoint about the programs, policies, supports, or resources explored in terms of their overall effectiveness or potential for effectiveness. Finally, either suggest one recommendation for the cities of New York and Chicago about how they can serve groups and individuals, including homeless youth, or discuss how one policy or resource you discovered could potentially benefit another city such as one you reside in or that is familiar to you.
Guided Response: Respond to a minimum of two peers. In your responses, discuss how the information in your peer’s visual comparison varies from your own. Did your conclusions about the policies in these states vary? If yes, discuss what might account for those variations. Respond ...

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

INTELLIGENCE BULLETIN

(U) Symbols and Logos Used by Pedophiles to Identify Sexual Preferences
(U//FOUO) This intelligence bulletin addresses Crimes Against Children Standing
Intelligence Requirements Set contained in Q-FBI-2200-005-06, HRWC CAC-VI.A.5.
(U//LES) Pedophiles, to include those who sexually abuse children as well as those who
produce, distribute, and trade child pornography, are using various types of identification
logos or symbols to recognize one another and distinguish their sexual preferences. To
specifically indicate the pedophile’s gender preference, members of pedophilic organizations
encourage the use of descriptions such as “boylove”, “girllove”, and “childlove.”1 These
symbols have been etched into rings and formed into pendants, and have also been found
imprinted on coins.
(U) The BoyLover logo (BLogo) is a small blue spiral-shaped triangle surrounded by a larger
triangle, whereby the small triangle represents a small boy and the larger triangle represents
an adult man.2 A variation of the BLogo is the Little Boy Lover logo (LBLogo), which also
embodies a small spiral-shaped triangle within a larger triangle; however, the corners of the
LBLogo are rounded to resemble a scribbling by a young child.3 Images of the BLogo and
LBLogo symbols are depicted below.

(U//LES) FBI investigations in several cities have uncovered several symbols used by
pedophiles to proclaim their attraction to children. After a seizure of a subject’s computer in
connection with an Innocent Images case in the Jacksonville Division, a Computer Analysis
Response Team forensic examiner came across an unfamiliar symbol that was integrated into
a Web site banner named “ATBOYS.COM, where the “A” in “ATBOYS” was actually the
BoyLove symbol and written as follows: TBOYS.com. It was further determined that
“ATBOYS” is an acronym for Attracted To Boys.5 These pedophilia symbols also appear on
Web sites such as one of the banners advertised on www.boylover.net, shown below.6

(U//LES) In another incident, FBI Sacramento was alerted by the California Department of
Justice about an unusual marking on a coin. Research of the marking concluded that the
BoyLover logo (BLogo) was imprinted on the front of the coin, and the phrase “Kids Love
Pedos” was engraved on the back of the coin.7 (Coins depicting the BLogo are pictured on
page one.) The appearance of the BLogo on coins is another method used by pedophiles to
announce their sexual preferences.
(U) Pedophilia symbols on jewelry, coins, Web sites and other effects are indicative of
advertisement methods used by child sexual predators to promote their cause. Pedophile
activists advocate for the social acceptance of sexual relationships between adults and
children. These organizations seek to decriminalize sexual relationships between adults and
children and to legalize child pornography based on their belief that children have the ability
to consent to sexual acts.
(U//LES) Identical or similar jewelry and symbols as described in this intelligence bulletin
should raise suspicion of possible pedophilia activity when found during searches.
Investigators should also be attentive to pedophilia symbols advertised on Web sites. During
examinations of computer files, investigators should be conscious of subjects who try to
conceal child pornography by labeling them with symbols instead of the typical suggestive
explicit names.
