achievements is the strength of your dreams and
your willingness to work for them.”
“ Because we want our children, and all children
in this nation, to know that the only limit to the
height of your achievement is the reach of your
dreams and your willingness to work for them.”
In 1988, Joe Biden was forced to withdraw from the presidential race due to plagiarism allegations.
I commit to these principles
“Not tolerate lying, cheating, stealing, plagiarizing, privacy or other violation of intellectual
property rights” (p.6)

 Affects the morale of the student body
 Lower the reputation of KDI school
 Destroy a promising future/ career plan
 Degree may be withdrawn later in the future
 Loss of respect from teachers and possibly peers
 Not getting a grade
 Not passing a course
 Suspention or expulsion from the school
KDI SCHOOL CODE OF HONOUR
Negative Effects
Penalties
 A type of cheating that involves copying or using someones else’s ideas or work (published or unpublished), in whole or
in part without proper acknowledgement.
 Verbatim
 Sometimes, this maybe unintentional if students have not been taught how to acknowlege the sources.
What is Plagiarism?
 When a student incorrectly misquotes documents.
 When a student turns in one of his previous
assignment as new
 Careless paraphrasing
 Poor documentation
 Quoting excessively
 Failure to use your own “voice”
 Careless note taking
From the Latin word Plagiarius meaning kidnapper
 Copying a friend’s work
 Buying or borrowing paper
 Cutting and pasting blocks of text from electronic sources
without documenting
 Media “borrowing” without documentation
 Web publishing without the permission of creators
Intentional
Unintentional
Common Strategies: Retain the main idea
Paraphrasing:
 Present original idea using your own words
 Acknowlege the sources (author(s)’ name,
year). Be sure you are not just re-arranging or
replacing words.
Summarize
 Concise presentation of the main
ideas in your own words
 Acknowledge the source (author(s)’
name, year)
Qouting Directly
 Put quotation marks
 Acknowledge the source (author(s)’
name, year, page number)
Referencing
 Reread the original passage until you understand its full meaning.
 Set the original aside, and write your paraphrase on a separate sheet of paper.
 Jot down a few words below your paraphrase to remind you later how you envision using this material. In your notes,
write a key word or phrase to indicate the subject of your paraphrase.
Steps to Effective Paraphrasing.
 Check your rendition with the original to make sure that your version accurately expresses all the essential information in a
new form.
 Use quotation marks to identify any unique term or phraseology you have borrowed exactly from the source.
 Record the source (including the page) in your notes so that you can credit it easily if you decide to incorporate the
material into your paper.

Studies of public policy have offered many definitions of the term, ranging from broad examples such as “whatever governments
choose to do or not to do” (Dye, 1992 cited in Anderson, 1994, p.4), to others which provide more specific defining characteristics,
e.g., “a purposive course of action followed by an actor or set of actors in dealing with a problem or matter of concern”

Anderson (1994) asserts that public policy focuses on solving societal problems: “Public policy is a purposive course of action
followed by an actor or set of actors in dealing with a problem or mater of concern” (p.5).

Young and Quinn (2002) points to the various components of the public policy decision making process:
The making of public policy has direct impact on a society, and therefore the people involved at various levels in the process are
generally numerous and diverse. These individuals or groups who have a direct or indirect interest in the outcome of a policy
decision, i.e., the stakeholders, can include government agencies, policy advisers and a wide range of non-governmental or
community groups and individuals. At the center of this community is the relevant governmental agency or agencies designated
to handle the problem or issue in question (p. 6).

Nutrition is an essential component of promoting women's health. It has a downstream
positive impact on their children's health. As such, attempts to curb malnutrition should be
targeted at gestational and lactating mothers, teenage girls, and mature women (EWEC,
