This document presents hypotheses and solutions regarding a student named Jeremy who is struggling in school. Hypothesis 1 states that giving Jeremy more autonomy will improve his well-being and self-esteem. Hypothesis 2 is that more understanding from Jeremy's teacher will motivate him. Hypothesis 3 is that peer acceptance will help Jeremy experience care and support. Hypothesis 4 is that helping Jeremy understand causality will lead to competency. Hypothesis 5 is that closer collaboration between parents and teachers will give Jeremy a stronger sense of belonging. Solutions proposed include allowing Jeremy to pursue interests, focusing on skill mastery, teachers having positive expectations, and creating a safe classroom environment.

The document summarizes findings from a qualitative midterm review of the GRAD program. It describes common behavior changes seen among women, men, and community leaders. The most frequent changes reported for women were increased savings behavior, engagement in income-generating activities, and more family discussions. For men, increased workload sharing, joint decision-making, support for girls' education, and reduced violence were often cited. Community leaders also commonly reported starting to share household tasks. The review provides evidence that GRAD training helped foster positive changes in financial practices and gender norms.

Despite its central role in interactive media, guidelines for designing and evaluating rhythmic interactions are hard to find. The primary objective of our tutorial is that the participants will learn the fundamentals of the design and evaluation of rhythmicity in ambient and ubiquitous multimodal mobile interaction.
The tutorial is organized by Cumhur Erkut and Antti Jylhä from the Aalto University. The target audience is the interaction specialists and software developers, who want to enhance their interactive applications with rhythmicity. A particularly suitable group is the mobile application developers. Students and general audience with background in HCI, interaction design, or audio signal processing were also welcome to attend. About 10 HCI, game, and interaction design researchers have followed the tutorial and created a lively discussion.

This document discusses how social media platforms like Facebook and Google generate revenue from users' personal data. It explains that they collect extensive data on users' activities, interests, and demographics which is then used to highly target advertising. Advertisers pay more when ads are better targeted, so the platforms have strong incentives to keep users engaged and responding to ads. Their algorithms aim to show the ads most likely to elicit desired user actions. While free for users, the platforms treat personal data as a commodity to be analyzed and sold for advertising purposes. Some see this business model as transferring too much power and control over personal data from individuals to corporations.
Enguia is a mobile app and desktop platform that allows small businesses to automate tasks like scheduling appointments, processing orders, and communicating with customers. The app provides a centralized portal for each business where they can manage operations and customers can find the business, get information, and complete tasks like booking appointments or placing orders. It aims to replace manual processes currently handled by attendants while also providing an easy way for customers to search, learn about, and engage with local businesses. The platform generates revenue through monthly fees paid by businesses to use the desktop portal for configuring their mobile presence within the app.

How to make mobile economy prosper in VietnamBrian TRAN
- Collaboration between companies from different industries is needed to create an ecosystem for the mobile economy and creative industries in Vietnam. This should be seen as win-win partnerships where all parties can benefit.
- Vietnamese companies face challenges like a lack of cooperation, but developing mobile apps from the start allows building new modern ecosystems more easily compared to other countries.
- The mobile app market in Vietnam is still developing, but shows potential as smartphones become more common and local companies work to serve customer needs through new apps. However, both local and foreign firms will compete for this growing market.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

CAKE: Sharing Slices of Confidential Data on BlockchainClaudio Di Ciccio
Presented at the CAiSE 2024 Forum, Intelligent Information Systems, June 6th, Limassol, Cyprus.
Synopsis: Cooperative information systems typically involve various entities in a collaborative process within a distributed environment. Blockchain technology offers a mechanism for automating such processes, even when only partial trust exists among participants. The data stored on the blockchain is replicated across all nodes in the network, ensuring accessibility to all participants. While this aspect facilitates traceability, integrity, and persistence, it poses challenges for adopting public blockchains in enterprise settings due to confidentiality issues. In this paper, we present a software tool named Control Access via Key Encryption (CAKE), designed to ensure data confidentiality in scenarios involving public blockchains. After outlining its core components and functionalities, we showcase the application of CAKE in the context of a real-world cyber-security project within the logistics domain.
