An electromagnetic brake uses springs to exert braking force when power is removed from its coil, stopping movement. Direct current electromagnets are commonly used in brakes, clutches, cranes and other machinery to generate magnetic fields for braking or motion. A positional blocker is a small 24Vdc element that locks components like an electromagnetic brake but provides more torque through its toothed design, requiring the locked machine to be stopped first before engaging.

What is a FAE/M electromagnetic brake?
A FAE/M electromagnetic brake has negative characteristics since its main feature is that
the braking is produced by a reaction of springs, which exert their action directly on the
object or element to be braked. When power is applied to the coil, the brake
automatically stops braking.
What applications do direct current electromagnets have?
Direct current electromagnets are of essential use in brakes and electromagnetic
clutches, as well as in cranes, containers, recycling centres or magnetic levitation trains.
Electromagnets are also applied to rotary electric motors with the aim of producing a
rotating magnetic field and to linear motors.
What is a positional blocker?
It is a small element with a standard voltage of 24 Vdc., which performs the same
function as an electromagnetic brake. However, as it is toothed, it has more torque,
compared to a brake with the same sizes.
To lock it the machine containing it must be stopped or almost stopped.
