Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

- 8. Check in/out Every day parents check their children into the daycare when they drop them off in the morning and check-out when they pick up in the afternoon. Staff also check in and out. This provides an overview of who is currently in the daycare at all times. Staff also check in ! and out. Children in color are checked in. An icon indicates whether a child is sick, sleeping or on vacation. The different groups in the daycare are listed and it is easy to see how many children you have right now. When a parent check in a child they also choose when and who picks up. This can be viewed here.
- 10. Daily administration This part is used by the management and employees of the daycare. Here you have all the data on children, employees, parents etc. You can also easily send photos, information and event invitations to a group of parents. Everything is controlled from a computer, tablet or phone. An overview of all children in each group in the daycare right now. How many are sick, on vacation and how much staff is here right now. Get an overview of a group. A graph is showing the projected number of children for the rest of the day. Invite parents and children to events or easily send them photos and information.

- 13. Parent App The parent app works on both iPhone, Android and as a homepage. It is used by the parents. Parents can report their child sick or on vacation as well as receive information and photos from the daycare. Report a child sick. Parents receive information and pictures in a Facebook style feed. They can like and comment on posts. As a parent you can see when you dropped off and when you picked up your child. Also see when the child has slept during the day. Let the daycare know that a vacation period is coming up. Parents can also receive private messages from the daycare.
