One night he made a remark about the sister of Frank Galluciano, and Galluciano slashed Capone's
face with a pocketknife, leaving three large scars on the left side of his face. For much of his
criminal career, newspapers would call Capone by the hated name "Scarface". On December 18,

The Saint Valentine's Massacre was a well thought out plan since no one was able to have solid
proof that it was Al Capone. In Saint Valentine's article in This Day in History it states the plan was
carried out fairly easy since both were familiar with transporting alcohol and such Bugs Moran was

through the use of two criminological theories. To accomplish the task at hand; I shall, define gang
crime, provide a description of social disorganization theory, illustrate how the application of social
disorganization theory provides an explanation of gang crime, describe differential opportunity
theory, demonstrate how differential opportunity theory can explain gang crime, and exemplify as to
which theory provides a superior explanation of gang crime. In the end, it will be clear that social
disorganization theory is a superior explanation of gang crime in comparison to differential
opportunity theory, due to its ability to deliver a more enhanced explanation than the one that is
provided by differential opportunity theory.

Gautam Anubhav James Sandy History 1311 December 1st, 2017. Movie Review: Gangs of New
York Gangs of New York, set in the 1860s New York, follows the story through the eyes of
Amsterdam, bought into life by Leonardo DiCaprio. Director Martin Scorsese does a wonderful job
of portraying history on a live screen. Scorsese starts off in what seems to be early 1846 when the
Irish immigrants flooded into New York following the famine of 1842. The movie starts with an
Irish Catholic Priest Vallon (Liam Nesson) and his group "Dead rabbits" facing off against the native
groups, Protestants, William Cutting "Bill the Butcher" (Daniel Day–Lewis) at five points square.
Amsterdam, Priest Vallon's Son, witnesses the battle and the death of his father at the hands of
Cutting. The young boy sees men fighting with knives, cleavers and clubs cutting through flesh and

set foot on the same ground he saw his father die and plot his revenge. The film follows Amsterdam
as he infiltrates Butcher's group and becomes an insider in the group. Amsterdam recognizes many
men that were on his father's side on the day he died on Butchers side then. Amsterdam plots his
revenge to kill Butcher publicly on the day Butcher celebrates the death of his father, Priest Vallon,
as a public Holiday. In his plot to kill Butcher, Amsterdam cuts through the ranks by the help of his
childhood friend, Henry Thomas, he has a romantic relationship with a pick pocket Jenny Everdeane
(Cameron Diaz). His relationship with Diaz's character causes another turning point as his friend
Henry exposes him to the Butcher because of this. Amsterdam is then confronted by the Butcher
publicly but he survives the alteration as the butcher decides that Amsterdam would live in shame.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION Alphonse Capone was born January 17, 1899 in Brooklyn, New
York. He was Gabriel and Teresa Capone's, fourth of nine children; his parents were Italian
immigrants. At the age of 14 Capone was expelled from school for assaulting a female teacher.
Capone then started working for Johnny Torrio as a bouncer at one of his brothels; this is when
Capone really began to get exposed to the mobster life. He was exposed to the mobster life because

Prohibition was the scapegoat for the great depression the probation of alcohol caused many

Fracis Ford Coppola's "The Outsiders" (1983) is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by
E.Hinton published in 1967. There are many theories that can be found throughout the movie, victim
precipitation theory, differential association theory, strain theory and labeling theory are the most
prevalent. The story takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma and revolves around the story of a 14 year old

In the first scene of the film, Ponyboy exits a theatre to what looks like the city center area. As he
begins his walk home a mustang filled with Socs see him walking and immediately start insulting
him, telling him to wash the grease out of his hair. The torment does not stop there, they follow him
throughout town, throwing scrap wood at him and chasing him down the street. It escalated to the
point the Socs jump out of the car and takes him down, pointing a switchblade at his neck and
cutting him. This type of harassment is normal for Greasers, which is why they never should walk
alone. This scene is an example of victim precipitation theory. Ponyboy is an adolescent male with a
poor upbringing walking alone, even in broad daylight, he is considered an easy target for the Socs
and they know they can get away with it. Another example is when Ponyboy and Johnny decide to
run away together, they were spotted by the Socs who had been drinking and looking for easy

During the 1920s in an effort to reduce crime and corruption the prohibition on alcohol was passed,
little did these law makers know they were only worsening the situation. The streets started to run
rampant with crime, and bootleggers rose to power as organized raised as well. As organized crime
rose so did the Mafiosas. Throughout the 20th century the mafia has controlled the organized crime
scene with an unwavering fist only for its rule to be challenged by other families. The mafia 's
bosses give each family its own unique style whether they be a media persona like Al Capone, A
brutal killer like Charles Luciano, or completely insane like George Moran.
Alphonse Capone is perhaps one of the most notorious gangsters of all time being remembered in
infamy as a very successful businessman and a stone cold killer. Before Capone would become a
mob boss he lived in a run down part of New York city. Capone went to a Catholic school, where he
showed academic promise, but due to the violent nature of Catholic school Capone was expelled
from school at the age of fourteen for assaulting a female teacher (A&E Television Networks). After
that incident the young Capone picked up odd jobs until he met the gangster Johnny Torrio. Torrio
had a huge impact on Capone 's life, giving him a look at how organized crime were transforming

The 1920s was a decade of crime. Nobody was safe from gangsters like Al "Scarface" Capone and

Prescription Drugs Are Not A Problem
Over the past twenty–five years there has been a growing concern for illegal drugs, alcohol, tobacco
products, over–the–counter drugs, and prescription drugs. All of these legal and illegal drugs have
caused issues throughout North Carolina as well as the country, but one of the growing concerns is
prescription drug abuse. One of the counties in North Carolina that has been affected the most by
this epidemic is Robeson County. According to National Institute on Drug Abuse, "prescription
medications, such as those used to treat pain, attention deficit disorders, and anxiety are being
abused at a rate second only to marijuana among illicit drug users" (2015). Many people believe that
prescription drugs are not a problem because a doctor is diagnosing them with a specific health
problem. This may be the case for many of the individuals taking prescription drugs, but once the
body comes immune to the medicine it may start to carve new prescription drugs which can lead to
the abuse. The problem with prescription drugs is that many people deny they are addicted to them,
but the case is that many of these side effects from the drugs are leading to trips to the Emergency
Room (ER). In 2013, the State of the County Health Report released a publication that explained the

Frank Gottie is one of the most well known gang member of The Eight–Tray Criminal Hoover in
Memphis. Gottie believes that gangs are becoming to spin out of control, that it needs to be a
solution to gang activity. On July 10, 2016 Gottie says "I ain't never seen heaven before, but it was
like a Memphis heaven everybody was on one accord ", if the gangs could be on the same page for
Black Lives Matter (Jones and Fretland, 2016) . Why can't it happen for the youth? Ar'tavius Brown
was 18 years old and joined a gang called the Pirus the Blood Alliance. Brown joined gang activity
in South Memphis because he saw "people with the cars, with the money"(Goggans, 2014). Brown
was put with the ramifications of having a gun shoot out at Central High school,but the judge saw
something within Brown and gave him a second chance.
Why are these stories relevant? These stories are relevant to the gang problem because if a gang
member, Frank Gottie, sees that the gang problem in Memphis has to stop then it should be
addressed. The community should want a change so the generation in Memphis doesn't fall into the
typical stereotypes, they should want more for the future youth to come. Everyone(the youth) won't
have that second chance like the Memphian Ar'tavius Brown, all the youth won't have that judge that
will see the better side of the situation.The community needs to get more involved with the youth,
their kids, and family; so the gang problem won't become worse than it is becoming.

A Majoring Of Honors Accounting And Finance
I am double majoring in honors accounting and finance. I spend most of my weekdays at The Loop
campus. I downloaded the Chicago Public Library app onto my cell phone and searched for a library
branch location close to The Loop. I have class accounting and business calculus classes on Monday
and Wednesday afternoons and decided to visit the library before class. The Water Works Library is
on the red line and accessible at the Chicago stop. When I think of Chicago, Michigan Ave is the
first thing that comes to mind. The Water Works Library is located in the heart of the business
district at Michigan Ave and E Chicago Ave. Hershey's Chocolate World Chicago, The Cheesecake
