What are the six active
volcanoes in the Philippines?
Learning Objectives
At the end of the discussion, you should be able to:
Activity 1: Hot or Cold
In this activity, I will be showing
you some pictures and you will
determine whether the place in
the image have a hot or a cold
climate.
Activity 1: Hot or Cold
Activity 1: Hot or Cold
Activity 1: Hot or Cold
who have any idea why Philippines has
a relatively high temperature?
What do you think is the factor that
affect the climate in Philippines?
• It is the condition of Earth's
atmosphere at a specific time and place.
What is weather?
What is climate?
• It is the general pattern of weather in a
certain area over a long period of time.
Look outside
the window!
How's the weather outside?
Classifications of Climate
•HOT
•TEMPERATE
•COLD
How's the weather outside?
Why do you think WEATHER
AND CLIMATE is important?
How's the weather outside?
• Climate affects nearly every aspect of our lives,
from our food sources to our transport
infrastructure, from what clothes we wear.
• Weather determines the kinds of food available,
the types of shelter needed, and how living things
carry on their daily activities.
Weather is
the condition
of the
atmosphere at
a given time
and location.
Climate is a
general pattern
of weather in a
certain area
over a long
period of time.
A Recap
1 2 3 4
Climate is
classified into
hot,
temperate,
and cold.
Climate and
weather are both
important
because, these
affect every
aspect of our
lives.
Activity 2: The Higher, the Cooler
Activity 2: The Higher, the Cooler
Guided Questions:
Which place is the hottest? Which place is the coldest?
Which city has the highest elevation above sea level?
Which city has the lowest elevation level?
Based on the table, what is the relationship between the
elevation above sea level and the temperature of the
place?
Why is it colder at region with higher elevation?

Editor's Notes

  1. Keep your place clean and tidy. Always respect your teacher and your classmates. Be prepared and attentive. Raise your hand if you want to recite. Do your best, enjoy and have fun while learning.
  2. Geothermal energy Geothermal power plants where the deep inside the earth is used to produce steam to generate electricity. Geothermal heat pumps. The heat coming from close to the earth’s surface to heat water is used to provide heat for buildings. How volcanic eruption affect society Volcanic eruptions can cause loss of lives, destroy property. But, it can also help to make the soil fertile. Very good everyone! It is evident that you really have learned from the previous discussion. Now, we will be moving forward to our new topic which you will find out after doing the next activity.
  3. Ma’am it’s because the sun is shining brightly and people are using an umbrella and unlike the previous picture, the people in this picture are not wearing thick clothing or jackets instead they are wearing clothes that are much suited for a warm temperature or a climate ma’am.
  4. Because it’s Baguio City ma’am and we all know the Baguio City is known for its cold climate that is why it is known as the "Summer Capital of the Philippines.”
  5. There is difference in their weather and climate. The climate of the Philippines is characterized by relatively high temperature, high humidity and abundant rainfall. Africa on the other hand experiences a warm and temperate climate. And Greenland is located in the polar climate zone. This means that, in general, the country has an all-year round cold temperature and it gets very cold in the winter.
  6. W- minutes by minutes Climate – what is a weather long period of time in a specific are
  7. Climate is what you expect Weather is what actually happens
  8. Experience cold or mild climate through the year with the lowest temperature between November to february
  9. Manila experience a high temperature which varies 22 degrees to January and 34 degrees in May
  10. There is difference in their weather and climate. The climate of the Philippines is characterized by relatively high temperature, high humidity and abundant rainfall. There is difference in their weather and climate. The climate of the Philippines is characterized by relatively high temperature, high humidity and abundant rainfall.
  11. Now that we have already differentiated weather from climate and tackled the different classifications of climate.
  12. There is difference in their weather and climate. The climate of the Philippines is characterized by relatively high temperature, high humidity and abundant rainfall. 15. Ang earth ang umiikot sa sun
  16. Altitude in other term this is the elevation gaano ba kataas ang Isang Lugar mula sa sea level the air temperature decreases as the altitude increases. Habang tumataas ang Isang Lugar mas bumababa yung ang kanyang air temperature resulting to a milder or colder climate. so what is the reason behind this well the decreasing air temperature is due to decrease in air pressure kapag mas mataas mas layo layo ang air particles mas di natra-trap Ng init mas nagiging malamig. Kapag naman nasa baba mas magkakalapit ang air particles mas mataas ang pressure mas madali din ma-absorb yung init resulting to warmer climate
  17. Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, east Africa This is near the equator but in Mt Kilimanjaro makikita niyo yung taas covered with ice. So oo latitude is mainit sa Lugar na yon but dahil yon naman ay top of the mountain it does high altitude pag mataas ang elevation niya malayo from sea level kaya mababa yung temperature niya sa taas. Sa Philippines in general alam natin mainit pero bakit malamig sa Baguio Kasi mataas Kasi yung Lugar na iyon. Yung mga naghi-hiking bakit sila nagdadala ng jacket Kasi pagtaas mo don lumalamig so that the second factor
