2. Looking at the Weather
• We often see the potential for bad weather,
but fail to prepare for it anyway.
• Many fear what they don’t need to.
• Some storms do need to be prepared for.
Luke 22:36
• God is our “weather” forecaster. John 16:33
3. Facing a Storm
• A cry of fear: Mt. 8:25-26
– Did they forget that Christ was with them for a
bit? Faith can help us not forget and give us
comfort. 1 John 4:18; 2 Timothy 1:7
• We can pray, and ask for help! Matthew 7:7
– To take away the storm. Luke 22:42-43
– Or pilot me safely through it. Hebrews 13:5-6
4. When Things Look Bad…
• Remember, Jesus is our Savior!
– He is also our hope… 1 Timothy 1:1
– Especially the Savior of those who believe
1 Timothy 4:10
• We should not walk by worldly sight, but
by faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7; 4:18
– We should not cease keeping His commands.
2 Peter 2:19-22
5. We Are Going To Face Storms
• Persecutions… 2 Timothy 3:12; 1 Pet. 4:16
• Perilous times will come… 2 Tim. 3:1-9, 13
– Various other perils… 2 Cor. 11:26
• But we should take our cares and troubles to
the Lord for help. 1 Peter 5:7-9; Phil. 4:6-7
• We need to seek God’s guidance in
everything. Proverbs 3:5-6
6. We Must Be Faithful!
• The brethren in Smyrna were taught this.
Revelation 2:9-11; 1 John 5:4-5
• Whatever tribulations or “storms” come our
way, we must deal with them properly and
grow stronger. James 1:2-4; Rom. 5:3-5
• We can grow in the grace and knowledge
of Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18
7. Storm Checklist
• As you take each step with the Lord:
Prepare for the various storms (spiritually).
Study how to do what is needed to survive!
Trust in the Lord!
Pray!
Grow through each storm: in your patience,
character, and hope to an inward satisfaction.
