As of May 2010, Facebook had 15 million users in the Middle East and North Africa, heavily influenced by the introduction of an Arabic interface, growing the Arabic user base to 3.5 million. The leading countries for Facebook usage in the region are Egypt, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and the UAE, which together account for 70% of users. Despite the growth of Arabic users, 50% still prefer English, with gender representation being predominantly male at only 37% female users overall.
