● Intersection between the life sciences and humanities:
○ In undergraduate education, the life sciences and the humanities are often
regarded as disparate fields.
○ However, seeing as the life sciences directly impact the human
experience and the humanities are all about exploring that experience,
the two fields in fact bear many connections.
● Just for fun - what fields or areas of study can you think of that embody this
intersection?

● We’re a magazine dedicated to the creative student exploration of the
intersection between the life sciences and humanities.
● Creative student exploration:
○ One way to stimulate conversation around this intersection is to create a
space where students are free to explore, express, and discuss their
thoughts on the subject!

5. What we do
● In Spring 2021, the founding editors each contributed a piece of creative writing
to the magazine’s first issue (read it here!). During meetings, we discussed and
edited the content and mechanics of each piece.
● In general, our meetings will be spent on collaboration between writers and
editors to create and publish the most meaningful writing that we can!
● We’ve been publishing each semester’s issue piece by piece at a ~weekly
frequency.

stick with magazine and contribute to its growth.

8. Recruitment logistics
● Our staff writer application is the only component of recruitment and is due
Sunday, 9/19 at midnight.
● The application consists of some short answer questions and a question about a
writing sample.
