Mobile learning devices that can be used in K-12 classrooms include netbooks, cell phones, smartphones, tablets, and eReaders. Netbooks are small, lightweight laptops less than 3 pounds, with keyboards around 80-95% of full size. Smartphones run mobile operating systems, access the internet, and have full email and messaging capabilities. Tablets interface using touch and have internal keyboards, internet access via wireless, full operating systems, and document storage and editing features. EReaders are portable and optimized for reading texts in a size similar to paperback books.
