Persuasive Essay On Cell Phones
Cell Phone Controversy Social media can be perceived as a form of self expression and a way of connecting with one s peers. However, others have argued that social media can cause an increase in mental health problems and a decrease in genuine communication(cite). Because of the impact of social media on students, there is an ongoing debate about whether it is appropriate for students in grades 6 12 to have access to their cell phones in school. Many have argued that allowing students to have their phones with them gives them a way to reach support in case of an emergency, but others say that these devices are a source of distraction(cite). While some have used social media platforms as an outlet for emotional support (cite), others have become victims of cyberbullying(cite). Since many students in grades 6 12 use their cell phones on a daily basis, arguments have been made on both sides whether cell phone use should be permitted to help students interact educationally, or whether they should not be permitted since some see the use of social media as detrimental to a student s mental health and self esteem(cite). Beethoven Essay
Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven was, and remains today, an influential figure in the history of classical music. Perhaps no other composer in history wrote music of such inspiring power and expressiveness. His influence on the last 150 years of music is unequalled.
Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany in 1770. His father, a music enthusiast, dreamed of molding his son into the next Mozart. Beethoven never showed the impressive characteristics of Mozart, but he was unusually talented, learning the piano, organ and violin at a very early age. At 14, he was already skilled enough on the organ to receive a professional appointment (Beethoven). He held positions as an assistant organist in the electoral chapel where he obtained his first...show more content...The early piano sonatas of Beethoven deserve special mention. Although his first published examples of concertos and trios and the first two symphonies are beneath the masterpieces of Mozart and Haydn, the piano sonatas bear an unmistakably Beethovian stamp: grandiose in scope and length, and innovative in their range of expression. The sonatas were able to move expression from terrible rage to peals of laughter to deep depression so suddenly. Capturing this unpredictable style in his music, a new freedom of expression which broke the bounds of Classical ideals, was to position Beethoven as a disturbed man in the minds of some of his contemporaries. Furthermore, he was to be seen as the father of Romanticism and the single most important innovator of music in the minds of those after him. (Bookspan 27).
Before Beethoven struck the new note of romance in music, songwriters generally used one of two patterns for their s

The Scopes Trial
Although the 1920s was a lavish decade, there were other things going on while people were living in luxury; there was truth behind the glitter. The Eighteenth Amendment seemed like it was a good idea, but in reality, it brought people to a certain desperation to get at least a sip of an alcoholic beverage. The Ku Klux Klan marched to Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington on August 8, 1925 which succeeded in attracting national attention (1920 s KKK). John Scopes, a Tennessee schoolteacher, is arrested for teaching evolution, in violation of new state law banning the teaching of Darwin. The worst of times in the 1920s encapsulated the whole decade.
At midnight, January 16, 1920, the United States went dry; breweries, distilleries, and saloons were forced to close their doors (Prohibition). As said before, this amendment brought people to a great desperation to get a sip of an alcoholic beverage. Speakeasies, or hidden saloons and nightclubs became popular as well as bootleggers (smugglers who brought alcohol into the U.S.) so people could continue drinking their preferred intoxicated drink (Prohibition). The following poem portrays the thirst for alcohol in American after the Eighteenth Amendment was ratified in the 1920:

The Scopes trial resulted in two enduring conclusions: that legislatures should

Stolen Generations
The stolen generations
The stolen generations were a range of brutal removals of aboriginal children from their families between the late 1800s to the mid 1900s. The core goal in these removals was known as assimilation. Assimilation was based on the belief that aboriginals were to be treated unequally compared to the white people, and that the whites had the right to comprise Australia without aboriginals. The main beliefs behind these operations were that aborigines were inadequate as people and did not meet the borderline standards of civil human beings.
The children were targeted because of their vulnerability towards conforming to the white ways. Half caste children (which is considered an insulting word) had slightly lighter skin tone and were targeted more often to speed up the process towards a white Australia.
The indigenous children were integrated into the white community in an attempt to deter them from the culture and raise them as white Australians. Some of these...show more content...This included eradicating the younger indigenous generation s previous beliefs and practices relating to their aboriginal culture and replacing them with the white way of life. They also tried to make them eliminate their aboriginal line through breeding with white people. For example an aboriginal woman would have offspring with a white man. The offspring would only be half indigenous. The child would then grow up to have children with a white person. The offspring would be only a quarter aboriginal. Eventually the aboriginal heritage would only be in their distant ancestry.
Ultimately this operation was unsuccessful. Despite the governments so called good intentions to

Digestive System
The Digestive system:
The stomach related framework is comprised of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract likewise called the stomach related tract and the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. The GI tract is a progression of empty organs participated in a long, bending tube from the mouth to the butt. The empty organs that make up the GI tract are the mouth, throat, stomach, small digestive system, internal organ which incorporates the rectum and butt. Sustenance enters the mouth and goes to the rear end through the empty organs of the GI tract. The liver, pancreas, and gallbladder are the strong organs of the stomach related framework. The stomach related framework enables the body to process nourishment.
Why is digestion important?
Digestion is critical for separating nourishment into supplements, which the body utilizes for vitality, development, and cell repair. Sustenance and drink must be changed into littler particles of supplements before the blood retains them and conveys them to cells all through the body. Who Was To Blame For The Cold War Essay
I think that to some extent, the Soviet Union was to blame for the start of the Cold War. The Soviet Union s aggressive actions in Eastern Europe meant that the Americans had to step in to stop the Soviet Union from taking over Eastern Europe and making the countries into puppet states of theirs. As stated in the Truman Doctrine, America was supposed to aid all countries under oppression. That is why the Americans tried to stop the Soviet Union and allow democracy in those countries which the Soviets didn t like at all. That distanced the two countries from each other and made them hate each other even more.
However, the main reason for the start of the Cold War was the fact that both countries had completely different ideologies and plans for their countries. The USA was a capitalist country and also a democratic one so people had freedom of speech and choice in elections. There were also more than one political party competing in the elections. In contrast, The USSR was a communist country and so people didn t have freedom of speech or choice in...show more content...If countries accepted Marshall Aid, the USA would have control over what that money was spent on. The Soviets didn t want that as they thought the USA was just trying to westernise countries and turn them away from communism. When Germany and Berlin were separated into 4 zones, the Russian zone was the only one that was a communist area. The Allies then started to merge their zones together to create Bizonia and then soon afterwards Trizonia which consisted of the American, British and French zones. This caused separate development between West and East Germany. They both had diffe

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
Â
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesarâs dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empireâs birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empireâs society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

The Allies then started to merge their zones together to create Bizonia and then soon afterwards Trizonia which consisted of the American, British and French zones.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as âdistorted thinkingâ.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasnât one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
