This document contains summaries of four experimental photographers: Dominic Rouse, Hannah Hoch, John Heartfield, and Man Ray. Dominic Rouse uses multiple exposure techniques to deconstruct and reconstruct the human form. Hannah Hoch was a pioneer of photomontage and joined photographs to create surreal images. John Heartfield also used photomontage for his politically charged work opposing the Nazis. Man Ray created photograms by directly placing objects on photographic paper without a camera to produce surreal and abstract images. All four photographers used non-traditional photographic techniques and are considered pioneers of experimental photography.
