Stacey Troup had a successful career in New York City earning a six-figure salary until losing their job after the 9/11 attacks led to widespread job losses. After a year of unemployment, they took a pay cut to find stable work but lost that job during the market crash. They tried different sales jobs but were unfulfilled and unhappy. Realizing a degree was necessary for career stability and growth, they decided to return to school to obtain a degree and get back to a structured career in New York City.
