Event Report<br />Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY), the journey so far and the potential it holds<br />September 16th 2010<br />Organized by:<br />Centre for Insurance and Risk Management<br />Hosted by:<br />Centre for Insurance and Risk Management<br />Introduction<br />On September 16th 2010, the Centre for Insurance and Risk Management hosted a seminar titled “Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY), the journey so far and the potential it holds”. The main organizer of this seminar was the Centre for Insurance and Risk Management (CIRM) in co-operation with the Institute for Finance and Management Research (IFMR). <br />Mr Anil Swarup, the Director General, Labour Welfare and the Jt. Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment. Govt of India was the main speaker of the event. A distinguished group of micro insurance practitioners, researchers, insurers, policy makers and health practitioners from different states in India and around the world participated in the event. <br />The major highlights of the seminar discussion were:<br />Financing Health through ‘Public Private Partnership’ – Rethinking Welfare and Sustainability
Targeting the problem of ‘Targeting through Technology’ – The RSBY Biometric Card
Not just access; Quality! – Establishing an ‘incentives model’ to ensure quality in healthcare
