New media technologies had a huge impact on the research stage of my coursework.
Using these made it much quicker and
easier, as I could find information at the
click of a button and organise it
systematically which meant that I could
being the planning and production
sooner.

The internet was the NMT that had the biggest impact on my
research.
Especially websites like Youtube
In which I could watch many
music videos for free, allowing me
to gather different genres of
videos and music. This is where I got the ideas for home videos from
Ellies Gouldings “Your Song” and lengthy single
shots from Childish Gambinos “Freaks and Geeks”.

• Google had a big impact on my research to as I
could search for anything that would help me
decide on what my music video was going to
look like.
This is where I got the idea for the old
style film as I came across it on a
website about effects.

We used social networking for our audience
research.
On sites like Facebook we asked the
public questions.
However this had its limitations as to whether anyone would reply.
In our case, this wasn’t successful and so we
handed out questionnaires to people in our
college. This limited the age range that
would answer the questions (16-18), this
was good though as our aim was to promote
the artist to this age range

• During the planning stage we used SLR cameras
and hand held digital cameras in order to film
example shots of locations.
This meant we could view places we
wanted to film when we got home.
We analysed locations like the beach, woods and forest in
order to see what would be the best match for our artist
and song.

NMT’s helped during my construction of my
music video, as I was on a small budget.
Digital cameras where really helpful because they were easy to use and manoeuvre.
The cameras we used where HD ready which
made the quality much better.
They are small and compact so we
could take them anywhere, in this
case we took the camera to the
beach.

Digital Editing
Digital non-linear editing helped during my
construction as it allowed me to edit sound and
image together.
This meant my lyrics and visuals
would fit perfectly.
This is easier to use and the finished product can be put on to a
disc or posted on line so it can watch almost anywhere.
These forms of consumption are
good for producers (like me) as
they are cheaper.

Prezi
The internet played a big part in our evaluation.
To present our editing and camera work we
used an online programme called ‘Prezi’.
This was interactive for the readers and
zoomed in and out of sections to make it
more fun.

We tried social networking again for our audience
feedback of the video.
However uploading the video to
Facebook was unsuccessful.
This meant we had to take pictures of
people watching the video and then ask
them questions about it once they had
finished.
This also included some
other forms of NMT’s like
SLR cameras.
