Future Options
When I finish college, I’m planning on
deferring my university placement to
focus on my business for the year along
with getting a part time job. Originally, I
used a job website called ‘Indeed’ which
allowed me to see which jobs I can apply
for locally. This was helpful as it allowed
me to see options which options of
employment that I can go down. It also
showed me the skills and experience
required for the job roles I would want.
Future Options-
Higher
Education
I decided to research into higher education
and the areas I could end up going to. I found
that the courses I’d like to do have a lot of
opportunities within the area therefore I
wouldn’t have to worry about moving out.
This was helpful as it gained me more
knowledge on this subject. The research I
have done has convinced me to apply to
university through Ucas. I went on the ucas
website and completed the areas needed and
completed my personal statement. I have
received conditional offers on 4/5 of the
universities I applied too and I’m still waiting
for a response from Newcastle University.
Creating my Brand
Identity
Using this, I understood the importance of having a brand
identity and I did this through a plethora of stages. Firstly, I
completed my CV through using several guides to create
the best version of it possible. After this, I crafted my
personal statement using the information I gathered.
Furthermore, I designed several iterations and the
eventual final product of the logos and business cards.
Lastly, I completed my Create Britain file along with
creating a showreel. This was done through watching and
reading guides on the areas which has allowed me to
improve my brand identity which will allow potential
future employers to find my brand and my work easier.
Networking
Opportunities
Throughout my time at college, I have
been granted a multitude of opportunities
such as going to universities for workshops
in my sector along with people coming in
for talks and workshops within the college.
For industry placement, I did a multitude
of things including Changemakers which
helps the local community through things
like events and podcasts, along with
working with We Know Pets who are an
animal care business. This enhanced my
knowledge and skills as the experience
allowed me to learn a lot more about my
sector along with other things that would
be vital within work (punctuality etcetera.)
Conclusion
To conclude, I am far more experienced and
knowledgeable within my sector as I know
the opportunities, I have due to the
workshops I have attended following college.
On top of this, I know what areas I am the
strongest and most passionate about as
before coming to college I was a bit unsure
about my future steps (deferring my
university application for a year to focus on
my businesses.) From college, I have grown in
confidence along with being able to
showcase my strengths a lot better (story
telling.)
