Work Experience-
Changemakers
My role for Changemakers is being the
vice chair which involves taking
responsibility on the group projects and
to ensure we are being productive.
Changemakers is based at the Beacon of
Light and its aims is to help the local
community whether it be through
spreading valuable information or
helping those in need
On top of this, my other primary role within Changemakers is ensuring that all
online work (for example podcasts) are edited to a high quality. Although I am
involved in other aspects like being a host, editing is my major contribution to
Changemakers. We have done projects like: podcasts, soup kitchens etcetera.
I have learnt the value of teamwork
and delectating tasks within the
group fairly as before, I’d usually
take the brunt of the workload on
myself but with this, I can share the
workload with others.
Projects I’ve worked on
Pride Month
Firstly, One of the things I did was that I
created promotional content to promote
pride month and to spread a positive
message. I improved my problem-solving skills
with this as we had a very short time frame to
complete this project as we had less than a
day to write a script, produce and edit the full
project. In addition, I learnt new skills mostly
including improvisation within scenes due to a
lack of time to rehearse the script.
Podcasts
One of the main long-term projects I
have worked on throughout my time
at Changemakers is a variety of
podcasts. Each podcast would focus
on different subject matters which
include racism, toxic relationships
etcetera. These podcasts helped
sharpen my technical skill as I was the
main host and editor which allowed
me to practice a different style of
content which is the opposite of what
I usually like to make.
Evaluation
Overall, work experience has allowed me to see
what it is like working on a multitude of long-
term projects at the same time with different
groups of people. In addition, I have learnt what
it is like to be in a workplace with colleagues that
are older and far more experienced than me in a
sector I have passion about.
