RESEARCH AND
PLANNING
The research and planning that I undertook before creating my
final product helped me figure out all the different techniques
that would be useful and suitable to my genre of film.
I have developed technological techniques from my research
and planning, I learned how to use final cut express, garage
band and other programs on the mac. I’ve proved that from the
improvement of the editing from my prelim to my final product,
I’ve used a lot more editorial techniques in my final product than
I did in my prelim like cut, an example of this would be the cross
dissolve effect I used between some shots in final cut express
on my final product. I learned all these effects and different
techniques through using my research and planning and even
during production.
I used more of a wider understanding of the general forms and
conventions of a real life film in my media product than I did in
my prelim.
CONSTRUCTION
During the construction of my media product, I
learned many techniques that I wouldn’t of
known how to do whilst filming my prelim. I
learned how to use final cut properly and
different effects I can use to make my media
product look like the real thing, I learned how to
use a video camera effectively and how to
create different types of shots. I learned how to
use a range of technical equipment effectively.
The range, techniques and style of the shots I
have used have certainly become more
effective, the top shot represents the lighting
and location I have used in my opening
sequence whilst the bottom shot represents
the lighting and location I used in my prelim. As
you can see I have focused on using my new
found technical knowledge to know how to film
in the correct areas and how to position the
cameras in order to allow the sequence to make
more of an impact on the audience.
CONCLUSION
Overall, I believe that the range of shots and techniques, the
pace of the editing I have used, the shot composition, actors,
and sound have all shown a massive change in my final
product from my prelim. This is because of the skills and
techniques I learned in my research and planning and whilst
filming and editing, I learned how to create a good editing
pace, I have used a better more straight faced characters that
fit the genre and the range of shots I have used have become
increasingly better, I managed to use high angle and low
angle shots in my media product.
