2. A Teen film is a film genre targeted at teenagers and young adults in which
the plot is based upon the special interests of teenagers, such as:
● First love
● Conflict (with parents/ or teachers if in school)
● Coming of age
● Teen angst or alienation
● Rebellion (towards parents/peer)
Some teen films have adult themes such as:
● Pregnancy
● Drugs
● Violence
● Sex
Which isn’t uncommon to teenagers but also allows teen films to widen it's
audience to young adults.
Another reason why they teen films attract a teen audience is because they
would normally occur at the typical teen (young adult) locations, such as:
● School
● Parties/ Clubs
● Home
● Inside a car/bus

The targeted gender of the audience will differentiate depending on the
specific themes presented in the film. Films with a theme of romance,
relationships and gossip are ideally made to be targeted at females, whereas
films that include express a theme of violence, sex and drugs are usually
targeted at males. If the film consists of comedy or is of science
fiction/fantasy then it can be equally targeted at both genders.

4. The sub genre of our film opening is Black Feminist and Teen Drama, so because
of this I feel the audience specific to this genre would one of black girls from
the ages of 16 and above.
Our sub-genre is very uncommon but specific at the same time, we felt that in
order to ensure our film was successful we felt it was important to identify the
specific target audience that we believed our film opening would appeal to,
through the plot, characters, music and location After a lot of consideration we
believe that our film attracts young black girls aged 16 and above, who are
living in deprived areas . Although the opening we created was to uplift black
girls and raise awareness of serious issues that some face in their day to day
lives, we stretch out to a wider audience as we address themes of loneliness,
poverty, single parenthood (relates to the young and older audience).
An example of what my target audience would is; a young black girl (aged 18)
from Peckham, who is currently looking for a job (which suggests she doesn't
have much money). She would ideally send out tweets and put up status asking
if anyone has a job offer . She would be interested in black comedy and drama
films (like Boyz N The Hood) and Black Feminism (For Coloured Girls). She
would be interested in Hip hop and RnB music., which is the style of music we have
used in our film.
WHAT ABOUT OUR FILM?

5. Our target audience was also established in the
issues addressed, the setting and location in the film.
The teen mum and young carer are shown to care for
another human being, the young carer has to work
in order to support her younger sister which
presents an idea of poverty and independent, as
there is no appearance of an older figure (parent).
This is also represented the establishing shot at the
beginning of our film that shows a flat which is
typically identifiable with working class people.
Throughout our film opening we see key location details such
as paint peeling off the walls, messy rooms (young mum and
carer) a dark hallway , a small elevator (mainly seen in the
hood rat scenes) which shows evidence of an urban flat.
The soundtrack to our film also appeals to our audience as
it is a r'n'b song with a rap (Hip Hop) verse mid way on the
track. This will appeal to our audience as it is something
that they would be interested in and would listen to on
regular basis.
We believe that the song itself, "All Falls Down", really
sums up the message of our film as it sings of struggle and
pain but also how you shouldn't dwell on it as it gets
better.
