Shambhavi Kumari submitted a project report to her university department of biotechnology on evaluating type 1 CRISPR gene silencing. The report provides an introduction to CRISPR as a bacterial defense system used for genome engineering and gene regulation. It describes the components of the CRISPR system, including Cas proteins, guide RNA, PAM sequences, and tracr RNA. The report also outlines Shambhavi's work at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre under the guidance of Dr. Devashish Rath, as well as applications of CRISPR systems for genome editing, screening, therapeutics, and epigenetic editing.
