 The masthead is big and bold on all media products. I decided to include this is my magazine
to make it stand out and so customers can recognise it more because if it is not bold then it
wont grab the customers attention. Having bold masthead that stands out grabs the
customers attention. Also has to be a bright colour and so it stands out from a dark
background.
 All the fonts are simple and so you can read them nice and easy to read. I decided to use a
font that had a edge to it which is called ‘Arial narrow’ and so it gives the writing a rocky edge
to it to link it with my music genre.
 In most magazines they have black, white, red and maybe a little bit of yellow and grey. I
decided to use these colours put replace the yellow for orange since fire can represent fire,
which can link to heavy metal/ rock, which is the genre of my music magazine.
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms
and conventions of real media products?
 My audience for my music magazine is young people such as teenagers, that love
rock and metal.
 The age for my magazine is 15-20
 Gender overall more males than females but still near half way.
 The class of my magazine is Rock and Metal
 My social group for my magazine are mostly hipsters. But may include Goths and
Punks.
 My magazine is a rock and metal themed . This represents my social group
because of the genre of music is liked by hipsters, Goths and punks. The reason
for having a young age is because many adults prefer to listen to more subtle
music such as indie music and classical music. I made my magazine more of
masculine magazine because more males are likely to look at my magazine
compare to female due to research.
How does your media product represent particular social
groups?
 Since I don’t have the money to publish I would go for
a company that can compete against kerrang . I will
choose IPC magazine company to publish my
magazine since they have no rock/metal music
magazines in there bracket of music magazines. This
means IPC can compete against kerrang.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media
product and why?
 My audience for my media product will be a young
adults or older teenagers that might be Goths and
Emos and maybe hipsters since that’s the type that
seems to like rock and metal music. My
audience are young teenagers since
many older people don’t like music that
is loud.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
 Bright colours such as red and orange and so it
attracts them colours such as orange red are very
warm but also hot colours this represents the music
since the music. I have attracted my audience by
adding more album reviews since that’s what jack
said in his interview. And also more posters. Make the
text easy to read.
How did you attract/address your audience?
The list of technology and software I have used:
 Computer
 Camera
 Voice Recorder
 Phone
 Photoshop
 Word
 PowerPoint
 Blogger
 Survey monkey
 USB
 Studio
 Lighting
 Premiere pro
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
I have learnt a lot during this project. On the computer I have
learned how to use Photoshop more professional and learned
how to layout my documents properly. I learned how to use the
camera settings to change the image and learned how to take
different photos with different angles and so it fits the criteria. I
learned how to use a voice record because I never used one in
my life. In Photoshop I learned how to my pictures lighter and
learned how to use my brushes to make lights behind my band. I
also learned how to change the shapes of the outline of the
band I took photos of. I learned how to set up my own blog and
how to upload documents on to it. I learned that I had to light up
their faces well and prevent any shadows. In Premiere pro I
learned how to add audio and moving text and how to apply the
text and animation effect to it and learned how to add pictures
and learned how to up load it to YouTube and so I can upload it
onto my blog.
 I have learnt a lot about magazine layouts and how to
layout a magazine. I also gained more skills in
Photoshop to improve my images a lot. Also learned
about how to take studio shots of people and what
angles I need to achieve the rock theme through out
my magazine.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you
have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
