1. Evaluation
Tools used within the task:
The first tool I used to create my Opei self-portrait was the
magnetic lasso tool. I used this to select areas of my face to
create new layers to change the colour of.
The second tool I used was the eyedropper tool,
which I used to get a sample colour of my hair so I
could edit it without changing the background
image. I then used the fill bucket to change the hair to a
solid colour that was selected from the eyedropper to give my hair
the Opei portrait look.
I then used the new layer button to add more blank layers
that I could use for facial details and clothing. This was used
to add detail that did not require a copied layer.
The next tool I used was the brush tool to draw on details
like eyes, nose, mouth and clothing. This tool added detail
that made the image look more realistic.
The problems I encountered in this task where when cloning the hair
/ face the layer didn’t clone correctly because I didn’t have the
correct layer selected which was fixed once I changed the selected
layer.
Overall I would say I was successful in this task but if I was to do it
again I would know more about Photoshop and that would make the
image better. Improvements I would make would include copying the
face separate to the neck to give the head a outline making it more
distinctive.
